Caving into the O (Johny jones) Political Campaign

I've spent the last 2 months fighting the political machine in attempt to stop the hiring of Orgeron. Ive commented to every post I could that said anything positive about Farmer Fran. I've tried using facts and well, people who support him don't know what facts are. It has come to the decision which I have zero control over. So I asked myself what would be the harm in hiring him? Everything.
We can't turn around a bad hire in a short time like we have demonstrated in coaches past. Lastly I asked myself, who would I rather Miles or O? As I type this I want to throw up in my mouth, by if I'm truthful it is Miles. At least you knew what you had and not potential 3-25. 've been calling for his resignation since 2008.
We can't make a decision like this on such a small sample size.
Here are the facts for those on here that love O.
Would a Miles coached team had beaten those opponents and lost to Bama with just 125 yards of offense and no points? Yes
Here ya go:
LSU rush offense is ranked 21 with getting shite on by Bama
Here is the new energy
Southern Miss - 65
Arkansas - 104
Missouri - 109
Ole Miss - 114
Would LSU still played great defense? Absolutely. This provides the offense more opportunities to score. Think about the southern Miss game. It was tied at 10 at the half. Why? We eventually wore them out as they were small on the dline.
Why are people putting so much hype into ICEO? Look at the facts!

You need to trust your lying eyes.
Look at the before and after. That's where the O backers are coming from and they have a point.
I'm in the Jimbo camp, but I'm not so arrogant as to think there are no other good opinions and options out there.

It seems to me there are a lot of good options other than Jimbo. But more than a couple handfuls before Orgeron should be considered.
This political campaign O and his backers are supporting denies the obvious about his credentials compared to a dozen other possibilities. THAT is arrogance.

im fairly sure any of the assistants could have stepped in, let the coordinators handle gameplans and we'd have had the same results.
The team's enthusiasm isnt from hiring O, its from losing the dead weight of a meddling Les Miles and his stale offense. Thats the only difference and its not sustainable long term. At some point you have to out-scheme an opponent. i dont care how good a recruiter O is, he wont always have better players to just force his will against opponents- that was the Miles way.
If we hire O, we're going to be way too dependent on coordinators. If we have good ones, they'll move on to HC jobs, and if we have bad ones, we'll lose games until we replace them. Either way it will be a constant coaching carousel with new coaches having to implement new systems and no continuity. Thats the recipe for disaster.

I'm not so sure just any assistant could have stepped in and made moves to help us win.

i am. What did O do that the fans on this very message board havent been screaming for for years?
throw to the RBs and TEs
run more play action passes
stop the stupid corner kick-offs
open up the offense, pass more on 1st down, and not just strait verticals up the sideline
let the OC call the plays
get the plays in on time
stop running fournette into a brick wall
get your head out of your arse on clock management
All very simple fixes that Miles refused to do, but any other coach with middle school or higher knowledge would have done by now. Just because O made the very obvious changes, shouldnt suddenly qualify him to be a head coach at a top 10 program.

So are you saying that if we do hot cocoa we can anticipate the same type of joy and excitement during the football season that we have been able to enjoy during the basketball season?

But O:
- talks like us
- is from here
- is entertaining
- is passionate
- he might have changed
- is a great recruiter
- We can't use Ole Miss as a reference because it was long ago and isn't a true resume(even though that's his only actual HC stint).
- He has done great things as an interim HC(with another coaches system against inferior teams).
- Nothing else logically matters. We just like him.
That sounds like the mentality of the old Miles crowd and the "wait til next year" and "this team's young" B/S.

Except they are even worse than the Miles apologists, because Miles had actually had a lot of success early in his tenure, including a NC.

quote:our defense is excellent. Our special teams are good. Our offensive creativeness is nonexistant. What I'm saying is we have been fortunate with our schedule and the teams that we have played are terrible in the areas we are strong against i.e. we can run the ball, they are bad on rush defense..
So you're saying LSU really sucks?
