I'm in Rome, and other than some hazy days from the smoke it's fine!

Sure, but when the majority of these fires are due to arson, it is not exactly Mother Nature doing her thing
We also put fires out instead of letting rain do its job. These fires are great for the area that is burning. I obviously hope nobody loses anything of value.

I'm so mad. This rental lady is telling us that she won't reschedule us now unless she opens the dates and someone else books our spot to make up the lost $$. She is acting like the weather is a scene out of the Sound of Music, no concerns and I'm absolutely being unreasonable for needing to reschedule. I remind her I'm pregnant, I have a three year old and even my OB asked me to please reschedule and not risk it. I'm fuming. Anything I can do?

Drove into Boone last night to visit friends. Smelled the burning for about the last hour of the drive, coming from johnson city

It rained last night pretty heavily for a few hours. You may get to take your trip after all.

So is south Louisiana, but it's due to sugarcane burning. My pool was full of ashes yesterday.

Not necessarily - some of those big landslides you see in the Smokey's are a direct result of fires. Much like happens in Cali. Yep, part of a natural cycle; however there's not a lot of natural left in some of these places (ie. natural: as in virgin forest). Sad for places like the Tellico (hope not Joyce Kilmer area) to burn.
