Between 2007 and 2014, the latest year for which figures are available, the number of employees in the LSU System office fell from 45 to 29, a 35.5% decline, according to The Hechinger Report, which covers higher education.

By comparison, the number of administrative and managerial employees at universities overall increased some 15% during the same period, The Hechinger Report says.
LSU is highlighted in The Hechinger Report for its administrative efficiencies. In part, those can be attributed to consolidations in the central office that occurred in 2013, when the position of the university system president and the Baton Rouge campus chancellor were merged.

I worked at the LSU System when I was in school there and there was always way too many students there just eating up hours. I am not convinced that this report differentiates between student employees and full time system employees.

Yea but I bet we hired a couple more diversity coordinators...

So, the LSU system cut 16 jobs from its staff of roughly 5k?

LSU and Ohio State have about the same number of administrators (according to something I read ~4 years ago).

Most every college and govt entity is over bloated with personnel.

Yep, and Ohio State has almost twice the student population.
Louisiana has as many state employees as the State of Pennsylvania. Inefficiency and nepotism run amok.
Edit: this is a good start though. I hope more unnessecary government jobs are cut.

Get back to me when we're no longer employing a Dean of Diversity who makes 6 figures...

Get rid of any position that includes the words "diversity" "inclusion" or "gender studies"
