During the game Saturday. Said that there were only three other schools that LSU wouldn't be a step up from: they mentioned Bama, Ohio State and one other school I can't remember. I know they added Michigan as the fourth a little later in the conversation. Does anyone remember the third school in the first three mentioned? The announces were all basically saying there was no way O would be the coach when so many existing top notch coaches would want to come to LSU. I was surprised by the high praise and surprised by their take on coach O not being in the class of the coaching type that LSU deserves.

I'd love to see Booger just bitch slap McElroy on TV.

I was thinking the same thing. during the game. They were certainly not interested in what was going on on the field.

I thought so, but wasn't sure. It is ironic since there were rumors about LSU having Strong on their list of potential candidates should he get fired.

The dude said Chris Peterson as someone who wouldn't leave his school for LSU. I stopped listening after that

They were talking about Peterson at Washington.

And i would say LSU is definitely a step up, but the point was that he wouldnt leave.

oh yeah, that's right. That was kinda off given how this is his first decent season there and Washington is NO power house. Not since the 80's and early 90's, lol!

there are reasons outside of football Peterson probably wouldn't leave, it was a legit comment. He wasn't saying its a better program

Not to mention, UW is in the process of giving him a 10 year extension. I don't think he would decline a deal like that.

Peterson falls under guys like Patterson, Gundy, etc.

Some guys just won't leave for whatever reason.

It takes a full-grown man to be the LSU Head Coach. It's not for everybody.

They were right. If Les Miles was fired after A&M last year and replaced with Ed Orgeron everyone here would have lost their damn minds. It is no different now.

They sat and discussed the playoff for half a quarter. Guice was breaking off a 95 yard run, and they never even stopped to announce the play.

I don't mind McElroy as a talk guy, but he is terrible in games. Those 2 together were the worst.

I thought what they said was in pretty poor taste. I've never seen a crew spend so much time talking down about a coach in-game, rather than actually talking about what was going on on the field. Had they made those comments on an editorial show like Gameday or Scoreboard, it would've been fair, but no coach or player deserves to be talked up as being inadequate while the game is ongoing, they're dominating the opponent, and can't respond in kind. The fact of the matter is that saying the guy ain't a big enough name as our backup rb nets the second highest yard total in a game ever, when we haven't won an away game following a loss since 1996, lacks self-awareness and coothe (even if you want someone else to get the job).

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate here. I understand that LSU should be able to lure almost any coach to Baton Rouge, but honestly, what are you looking for in a coach? The big things are:

Can he recruit the state?
Can he recruit nationally?
Can he consistently win in the SEC?
Can he win the big games?

If Orgeron wins out and wins the Sugar Bowl as well, you have someone already in place who has done all of these things AT YOUR SCHOOL, is from our state, and is all LSU. Add in the fact that he would have done it without a high profile offensive coordinator and I ask, what more do you want?

And I say all of that as a huge Jimbo guy. I have wanted Jimbo here for years and if we get him, I'll be happy. But at this point, if he wins out AND brings in a great OC, I'm down for Coach O.

We should hire coach O and bring in jimbo as offensive coordinator and Saban as defensive coordinator. Problem solved.
