Let me start by saying the reason we lost last night was our QB and o-line play. That is on LSU. I was in section 101 so I haven't had the liberty to look at the plays on TV yet. However, it seems like every marginal call went against us. I need to watch the following plays:

The 2nd down throw by Bama when they were in their own end zone and our DB was flying towards the QB. He saw the pressure coming and threw it away while inside the pocket. The ball wasn't within 10 yards of a single Bama player. How that wasn't a safety I will need an explanation

The offsetting personal foul penalties. Those were some absurdly late hits by Bama on that play. I think we would've had the ball on around the 15 yard line with the first down if they don't call offsetting penalties. This to me was the turning point in the game for LSU. We had to have points and is we got 15 yards there and a first we come away with at least a field goal.

The hold on our player when the Bama QB ran for a touchdown. This happened right in front of us and about half our section was screaming HOLD! How the refs didn't see that I'll never understand. They make that call and Bama not only doesn't score a TD but they're pretty much out of field goal range.

The late hit out of bounds call. This one was big but not as big as the other three.

LSU lost because of poor offensive line play and weak QB play.

This is exactly why the "we have more NFL level talent than any other team" argument is specious (and hopefully we won't hear it any more). You can have the greatest defense in college football (which I believe LSU has), one full of talent that will be NFL drafted, but still not be the all-around most talented team in football. The offensive talent deficiencies and play cannot be overcome by the defense, as demonstrated Saturday.

The helmet to helmet on Etling's slide in the first quarter getting called, would literally change the entire game.

Bama has their leading tackler and signal caller ejected. We get 15 yards, and the drive stays alive. He's absent for his 11 tackles, 0.5 sacks and 1.5 TFL.

To me that was a major play to be a no call and no review by Birmingham

I saw two blatant holds that resulted in long runs by the Bama QB, one on the TD run.

The PF on the sideline was ticky tack compared with what Bama got away with earlier in the game.

There were a couple of calls that could have gone against us as well.

Refs didn't cost us the game, but they did help Bama as usual. This is expected. We have to be better to the point that refs don't matter.

I don't understand how Alabama's three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to one would constitute "offsetting penalties." This is the only gripe I have about the zebras.

Anyone who bitches about the Hurts run, if you watch any play, you will see holding. It's part of the game, it gets called if it's obvious.

One Ah shite negates a whole lot of Attaboys. I agree that there is a lot of potential holding on many plays but when it is on the player who is trying to make the stop it should be called. Hell, Danielson called attention to it as soon as they replayed it and then quickly backtracked because he realized the controversy he would stir up.

Phantom Calls, Key missed calls, and weird rulings are all part of what everyone has come to know as Bama Privilege - Ask Hannegrif about that! Haha

They missed some calls they should have made. Some at crucial times. On the Hurts TD, a LSU DLineman or LB, I can't remember got held big time, right in front of them. Hurts and Alabama doesn't get a TD if they make the damn call like they should have.

Easier to blame refs than to say. We were outmatched by a great opponent

They outplayed us but the refs definitely had a big part in them outplaying us. It's literally every single year vs Bama though.

I really only saw 2 calls that I thought were bad.

I get there is holding every play but to miss 3 holds all on the same play which gave Alabama 7 instead of them trying for 3.

The holdings during hurts TD run and the late hit on hurts. He had just stepped out with 1 foot and the lsu defender was trying to make sure. What if the lsu defender held up and hurts lowered his shoulder and went up field for more yards.

The only other thing I didn't like was when 33 decleated 44 from behind on the field. 33 should have been ejected and that unsportsmanlike like penalty upheld instead of being cancelled out. 44 was the definition of defenseless player.

The ref not calling out the obvious hold on the only touchdown play was the reason Alabama won. The terrible 15-yard penalty to give Alabama a first down on a third down play was also pivotal

Douche thread of the year.

Yes we lost. Yes we deserved to lose.

But YES dipshit Alabama gets their drives extended by phantom calls and is allowed to hold while we are not.

It's not a this game thing, you have to factor-in that it happens every year for a decade. It's a trend.

Stating a truth, is not bitching. Bitching is making this lame arse thread.

ummmm if they dont call the BS late hit on Devin White, they don't score. If they don't give them the interception, they don't get a field goal. If they don't blow the whistle dead early, we score. If one PF doesn't cancel out three, we're in field goal range. If they call targeting on Reuben Foster, he's out of the game... There's so many things that could have happened and they didn't because Bama is the Nation's sweetheart.
