Idk why this is being downvoted. I assume folks didn't read the article.
The bottom line is TD is filled with racists pieces of shits who don't bat an eye when injustice is done towards anyone of color. They truly don't give a frick and people like LSUtangerine need to live with this if he wants to continue to post on this site. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows

if a black guy pushed him down would black people care?

but he didn't
which is the point
a white guy thought he was being mugged in the middle of the day by a cross country runner in a cross country running outfit
it's an obvious case of racial profiling
idk how anyone could look at this any differently or even attempt at excusing the guy's actions

Nor should he have been. This is an extraordinary situation which doesn't happen all the time, but a disabled young man was off course and running towards someone who didn't know their intent.
The assailant got out of his vehicle to push him down.

Agree that the parent needs to take some responsibility.
But let's not excuse the old white guy. He thought a cross country runner wearing cross country attire was attempting to mug him in the middle of the day.
He had to get out of his car, run up to the kid and push him down. Keep in mind he clearly had to notice the cross country onesie and the big sheet of paper with a number on his chest.
It's bad parenting and assault. Not all of these things or one or the other. It can be both.

No offense, but if someone ran at me acting erratically and not speaking, I wouldn't react very well either.
But since that isn't what happened, yeah dudes an a-hole.

But would you get out of your car to confront them? Or just lock the door?

did the guy hurt him? he pushed him down...that is it. he didn't beat him down or shoot him. What do you think should happen to the guy?

the minimum sentence for assault
it was clearly some form of assault

The criminal history of the autistic runner? Or the criminal history of the guy who thought he was about to get mugged and proceeded to get out of his car?

not sure how you gathered that.
the point is that this wasn't a black on black deal. It is absolutely irrelevant to even bring that up. You can continue to play hypothetical to push whatever narrative you'd like, and I will continue to just look at what actually happened.

I'm not advocating for the guy to be hung out back. My only point is that he did assault a guy, he did wrongfully racially profile him, and he should have had enough common sense to see that he was wearing a frickin' cross country onesie with a big number on his chest.
somehow, you're excusing the fact that this individual acted completely irrationally. I think that's pretty obvious.

so now we can just irrationally believe people are going to mug us?
So if Becky down the hall from me walks into my office, I can just push her to the ground and claim I thought she was going to assault me
do you understand the difference in assault and acting in self defense? You can't just claim self defense. You're gonna need proof. You'd be hard pressed to prove you were acting in self defense by jumping out of your car and pushing down an autistic high school kid who happened to be jogging by.

who? The autistic kid? Serious?
good lord

I certainly don't excuse the guy's actions. Sounds like a real dick.
But when a black dude mugs a white guy, or breaks into the home of a family who happens to be white, well, that's just crime.
When a white dude acts like a jerk, it's gotta be race-based.
But let's say it is profiling. Why should a I care more about a guy who pushes a black dude because of race than I do about a black guy who shoves a gun in the face of a white guy to get his iPhone?
I'm not directing that at you as if you represent black people or people who make these arguments. But that's where the disconnect comes from, IMO, on stories like this.
