Actually ecstatic when they fired Miles. But why fire him to turn around and hire O?

Sometimes its tough to keep a top OC and DC as they are looking for the next step.

Not sometimes...always. Coordinators are where new head coaches generally springboard from and where former head coaches go back to. A head coach must be involved enough to augment both coordinators in times of need.

That is the definition of an elite coach. The ability to put his mark in multiples areas of need within the program (ie recruiting, Xs and Os, administration) to make each year's team consistently competitive.

So why has that narrative changed? We should be able to plug in anybody and continue to win.

Here is a clue. It took Mike archer and curley hallman doing a rain dance to bring a dark cloud over LSU.

The position isn't plug and play, but it has lots of advantages.

Only problem I see, the same people that chose to keep Les Miles over Saban are making this choice too.

The TAF and the boosters will always be a constant. I doubt they ever give up controll to a coach like Saban again.

Speaking of, how many coaches did Alabama have to sift through?

Just because he may have learned from his mistakes doesn't make him worthy of showcasing what he's learned at LSU. If we were a smaller program, he'd be a fantastic hire.

Why? We had a coach that never admitted mistakes or tried to change his ways for 11 years.

I'll say this - if you ever wonder why LA is so backwards, particularly with respect to politics and government, this Orgeron saga is a perfect microcosm.

This shite is hilarious. You do realize Winston won a Heisman right? You do realize that Jimbo was the OC when LSU won a national title right? You do Realize he has a national title of his own right? You do realize his average wins per season is 11?

Oh wow. The heisman. OMG. I know of some heisman winners

Counterfeiter
pot head
Rapist

Wasn't there one that beat his kids too?

As far as all that title talk, you are just too frickin funny.

Les Miles did that shite blindfolded.

The last 12 years not a big enough sample size?

fricking Jimbo? Doesn't matter if he is OC, HC or HMFIC. It's still the same Jimbo LSU fans were more than happy to get rid of. The same one that recruited that fricktard Winston. The same one that waited till Saban left to recruit Perrilloux. The same one that had his head turned to mush by his wife.

I forgot how much you hate Jimbo. It's actually kind of amusing.

You mean Heisman trophy winner and NC MVP, along with 1st draft pick? Are you nuts?

For example:

1) He won't have the same talent level next year
2) He won't have the us against them mentality across the program in coming years
3) He has not proven himself to be the head man at other places

I am not saying that Coach O is or is not the right hire, but thinking that wins over some of the lowest level competition in addition to a comparison to an imbecile does not prove he is the man for the job.

Let's see what transpires on the field and on the recruiting trail the rest of the year before deeming Coach O "THE MAN" basically because he speaks with a cajun accent.

O is a better recruiter than all of those coaches that you named. and, since he's not a micro manager, he's perfect for all of the talent that he recuits. so.......get a top tier OC/DC and roll with it.

This is the only thing that CEO has yet to prove that he can do. He has done everything else as a head coach that you could ask for.

Lets look at the positives: He gets his teams ready to play, recruits well, gets the most out of his assistants (Has a tight ends coach coordinating a 40ppg offense), has coached in the NFL, has coached in many high profile programs (USC, Tennessee, LSU) so has lots of coaching connections

Lets looks at the non-negatives:
He doesn't lose to teams with less talent, doesn't mismanage the clock, doesn't make stupid head coaching decisions during the game, doesn't hamstring his assistant coaches, doesn't ride the players or assistants hard (like he did as HC)

Let's look at the biggest question mark:
We don't have any data on his evaluation and hiring of assistants other than his Ole Miss experience. I would think that since he was worked with a lot of great offensive coordinators that he would have the experience to properly evaluate their capabilities, but it is difficult to assess without seeing him actually be successful at doing it.

Herman and Jimbo should be pursued as possible replacements. Kelly ain't coming. That's dumb. Saying Fedora or Fleck is top tier is also dumb. Coach O can be successful here. He already has been.

Already been successful??? In three home games! That's the extent of your sample size??

I agree, i think maximizing the potential from the recruits that we have is going to be the most challenging aspect of this whole deal

Do yourself a favor, don't ever go to law school. You are definitely not cut out for it.
