I think he has earned it! Where is your credentials for picking a head coach. If you think the ones that you named will beat Sabin then you better go back to the coaching school you came from. Just look at the records of the coaches you named.

I fail to see how you could or would pass up on a guy that has proven he can win at LSU for a guy like Herman or Fleck. Shiny new ball syndrome is ridiculous with some of you.

Jimbo won a national title 2 years ago, I'm struggling to see how that is under acheiving?

He's had the #5, 3 & 2 recruiting classes the past 3 years. Since the championship he's gone 13-1 (lost the Rose Bowl), 10-3 (lost the Peach Bowl) and currently has the same record as LSU and will likely lose 3-4 games this year.

Herman's team is not going to play for him because they know he's gone.

Herman is gamble at best. There is nothing to say he can run a program as big as LSU. He could very well be the next Sumlin. Do you want that shite here? I don't. O is pushing all the right buttons and if he continues to win he'll be the coach here. And he should be. If he brings in a progressive OC and keeps Aranda it will be a homerun hire. No one has ever outworked O on the recruiting trail. He's Saban with a personality.

Nobody knows if he is right for the job or not. Let's take a look at it at the end of the season. Let's see what the recruiting class looks like, what the record is, and what the team chemistry looks like. We can then make two list A and B and see where the coaches fall.

What if Herman loses the rest of his games and O wins his? Is O better?

You're not the one selecting him or anyone so why continue to decrease his worth when you never know what he's capable of other than what you see on paper.

Coaches like Strong have done very well in other programs but at a top tier program haven't done crap.

Whatever choice they make, hopefully it's the correct one, should be the best who compliments the program cause anyone can win here right?

I said most, but even BDP has LA ties.

The possibility of dismantling our staff scares me. Fear of the unknown. I know Jimbo wouldn't have much trouble transitioning. Herman worries me some in that regard, even tho I think he's the best choice for the job

Put aside how much you like Coach O

Only if losing and team underachieves.

At this point, people are chasing a face and a name such as Herman that they think will look good at LSU. Why mess up a good thing for something that is working the way it should?

How can you say that O is not the man for the job if he has brought back excitement, players love him, most fans love him, and the decision hasn't been made yet? I don't want to end up like USC who had O and went after a hot-name coach and have looked like sht since. If O is successful and finishes well, he should be the guy.

I'd pick O over Herman. Herman hasn't done shite at a P5 school his resume does not impress me. Jimbo's deal played out last year I believe. Kelly intrigues me, Fedora has done okay at UNC but not championship caliber since he's been there. I dont' know anything about the other name you through in there.

Exactly. Keep O and try like hell to keep Aranda and the rest. I believe keeping O is the key

We have one of the best staffs in the country. Steve E. will prove whether he can get the job done at OC or not. If not, the only thing that would improve this team is a great OC.

I can see O replacing Peveto the day after our last game.

This! There are 50 new threads everyday on who we should hire. None of us or 99.9999% of us will have zero input into the process.

Hugh Freeze did it twice, why aren't we trying to hire him?

Don't get caught up in the PR campaign or the fact that he's racking up big numbers on offense (He knows he has to do that if he wants a shot at the job).

I love how this is thrown out like O is trying to run up the score on weaker teams. True, we beat three teams that have less talent, but the offense (running similar plays with similar formations) has set records in every game. We have played plenty of teams over the past 10 years that were inferior (and much worse that these three teams) and failed to dominate.
Just an objective view.

So lets hand the keys to a guy that has coached at a school of no Significance, who has not beat anyone worth a dam. Yeah sure . Id take coach O any day over this guy at least he has coached in this conference and has learned from his mistakes. Can recruit down here and is familar with the high school coaches. If coach O goes 6-1 he should get the job over some unproven coach like fleck. That kid would get thrown to the wolves in the sec.

You have to give Coach O one thing, he is doing what every boss should do and surround himself with good people and let them do there jobs and at the end of the day it reflects on him !!

I think keeping Austin Thomas is the key, esp if we hire anew. But that deserves its own thread
