I think not only should both sexes be required to sign up but both should do mandatory 2 years of service right out of high school. It could even be set up so that the best and brightest do the military work and the rest do Peace Corps type stuff - all in country though. Israel has the right idea.

Israel also has multiple countries within spitting distance that have publicly said they want to wipe them off the face of the Earth.

Personally, I don't think the state has the moral right to require forced labor of anyone, but that's just me. I'd rather have people who have a genuine desire to 'serve' as opposed to a mandate - which will, by its very nature, lower standards, productivity, and efficiency.

It wouldn't work here. The country is way too big to support a military with that many people in it. Hell, the government can't afford the military personnel we have now. I can't imagine how much it would cost to support a military with millions of people on active duty.

Yes they do.





They also are required to carry off duty.
