LSU and Aleva are in a tough spot

The pressure for Joe Aleva to retain coach O is going to be immense. He's dotting all of the i's and making it impossible not to keep him. Louisiana guy, dream job, getting former players on his side, etc. He had to have known this man was going to pour his heart and soul into this job. Unless he wanted him all along?
As a fan, I'm kind of torn too. We finally got what everyone wanted with Miles being fired. And we have a chance to go get someone with all of the credentials to put us back on top. Now, we have this crazy arse Cajun pumping new life into our program. Albeit, one that was not successful in his past. I'm to the point where I say frick it, give him a shot. If he fails, then we try it again. The bright side is that the man can recruit.. he won't set us back in that department. Ask Houston Nutt

Just wait til Orgeron loses a game. The public pressure for O will subside.

its comical cause part of what we heard of firing les is that he didn't want les to save his job again... well he got another candidate with a better shot at "saving" his job. UF, Bama, Arky, A&M all gonna be some tough games, he goes 3-1 during the stretch, he's got a pretty solid case.

let's see how he does in this 4 game stretch. as i've said a million times if he gets the LSU job he will have earned it.

I agree. It's going to be tough. Don't forget though we still have the meat of the schedule left. Everything will end up working out during that time.

Yeah.. but is he getting a fair shake if he loses one or two games close? Especially without having his staff in place? I think the most important criteria should be the direction of the program. And right now.. he's knocking that out the park.

he has to leave no doubt if he wants to get the job. this is more than fair considering how his last full time hc job went.

My man, you hit the nail on the head!

If he caves and hires Ed Orgeron, Mr. 3-21 in the SEC as a HC, I will fricking riot.
Pitchforks and torches.

Being an interim head coach with supremely talented teams is not EVEN CLOSE to the same job as being full time head coach in charge of building and maintaining a program.
There are dozens of successful interim coaches that were terrible full time head coaches.
Ed O has been a full time head coach ONCE and he was historically bad in our own division.

even if ed O wins out?
i don't think ed should be our first choice but I'm willing to rid with a ceo coach that shows miles was a retard for how he ran practice and our o.
the ones that are pitch fork worthy would be David Shaw, or maybe Fedora since he hates D

Yes, even if he wins out.
Because he didn't pick these players, he didn't pick these coaches, and he didn't install this system.
This is not his program. Its Les Miles' program that he is doing a better job of motivating and keeping fresh.
Has he learned from one of the worst 3 year head coaching stints in conference history? Maybe. Are we the program that needs to be the guinea pig? frick no.

i am not too high on fedora anymore but at least his offense would be entertaining.

How was the pressure to retain Coach Miles last November? How did that work out?
Alleva better ignore the "public pressure" and go find the best guy for the job. Let's not forget, Mike Archer was the popular guy in 1988. He went 10-1-1 and finished #5 in the country his first year. As time went on, the program crumbled. Let's not anoint a career 10-25 head coach (when not in the interim) just yet because we won a couple of games.

If LSU goes 3-1 in November the pressure won't subside if he continues to do what he is doing right now.

Wow, this is the first time in a couple hours and only the forth time today this exact post has been made. Such an original thought.

Obviously I'm not in any position to make this decision, but if I were, Orgeron would be coaching not for the job, but for the opportunity to interview.
To many people seem to be of the mindset that "If he goes 3-1" or "If he beats Bama" or "If he does X,Y,Z" the job should be his. That is short sighted.
It's great if he can do all those things, and I do believe it would almost certainly cement him (not saying it should) as the next head coach if he won the SEC, but short of that he shouldn't just be handed the job.

This the ONLY logical conclusion... He must want O and wanted to see him audition for the job. If that was not the case, he has grossly miscalculated and will give a known ace recruiter a personal vendetta against LSU and he will recruit the area even harder than before at his next school.
