You do realize if we won out, we'd be the SEC champion more than likely going to the playoff? Can we at least wait until the regular season is complete before the total meltdowns ensue?

And if we go 10-2 as SEC Champion? Now, I'm not saying we will, but, what if?

Why don't you MFers wait and see? There's 10 new "if Coach O only loses 4 games he should still be our HC" threads everyday. Ya'll need to pump the breaks with this if he wins the next 7 games shite and just let the games be played.

About a third of this board spent their formative years as LSU fans watching Jimbo in LSU gear and they won't be satisfied unless it's him.

Then there's another big chunk who think LSU is a blue blood and should be making a splash with this hire, completely neglecting that the list of splash hires is about two names long and we could be competing against USC, Texas, and Notre Dame in this search.

It doesn't really matter, if he wins out or has only one close loss that didn't result from a coaching mistake he will get the job, and LSU has the luxury of getting to watch that play out. We really are in a pretty good spot considering how most coaching changes go, just enjoy the ride.

You are guaging this based off horrible Mizzou and Southern Miss teams?

It's a true statement, and your response replaces the point of the thread with a strawman.

No one is saying hire Orgeron full time today. He hasn't proven he can do it yet. The entire point of this thread is that there's no point in making up your mind yet. This schedule is brutal, how he navigates it will go a long way towards showing if he has the ability or if he's still just a cheerleader like he was at Ole Miss.

Even if LSU were to win out, I'm not sure i'd still want him as head coach.

Wait and see is all I have ever advocated. I'll give him his due for what I've seen so far and to claim he hasn't shown "signs" and even results in a few short weeks is simply denial. I've actually pushed back on the anti-O attacks because I'm sick of the pre-determined judgement many have. He sucked at Ole Miss. Yeah we got that. Belichek and Saban were fired at Cleveland after a 38-46 stint. Imagine that? The best coach to ever coach college football and the best coach in the NFL together crapped out in Cleveland. By many people's standards they should have been forced to go coach pee wee league and work their way back into the grace of the couch potato QB's.

Because we're LSU and should be able to get Bellicheck

My point is that you cannot guage a coaches worth over one partial season. He inherited a team stocked full of talent on both sides of the ball with some damn strong position coaches. What happens if recruiting falls off or position coaches seek greener pastures? Is this the man that will rise to the occasion and become a great head coach? Im not saying Ed cant become that guy but what i am saying is his resume doesn't reflect it. This is a multimillion dollar decision and it shouldn't be based on a couple of stints as interim head coach at places already stocked with championship talent.

Wrong. I probably read 20 posts yesterday alone stating that he has ALREADY won the job no matter what happens here on out. It's not isolated.

I think those already giving him the job and those already firmly against him getting the job are equally short sighted.

I'll admit, I'm guilty of that. If it were to happen, and he made a "homerun" hire for the OC, then it could work.
