Do you talk like we do and get people motivated for the game? If so you'll have half this board on your side.

LSU needs a home run hire for an offensive coordinator. A hire on the same level as Aranda.
How about a head coach that runs his offense himself? And has won an NC as an OC?
That should suffice, while also not tie us down to the HOPE that we can find an elite OC.

If Coach O's redeeming quality over Les is that he let's his coordinators do their job, shouldn't Ensminger and Aranda get the credit for the wins? Not Coach O?
Coach O, as head coach of LSU, is the head recruiter, the guy that makes the general call of how he wants things ran like schemes and practice. He talked to Aranda about too many underneath gains in the passing game so our DBs started playing closer to the LOS. He told Ensminger he wanted more of a west coast style of offense. Result: you see a lot more slants and crossing routes being run as well as more 3-4 WR sets.
He's letting his assistants do their jobs but within his overall plan.
ETA: Not to mention that if you are going to rely on Aranda and/or Ensminger to motivate & energize the team...well good luck lol

So he told them he wants to give up less yards and score more points. People on the rant have been saying we need to do both of those for years, should we hire any of them?

I'm kind of amused by the arguments on both sides. If he beats Bama or wins 6/7 or SECCG or . . .
-or-
It doesn't matter if he proves he can do the job here, he has to go somewhere else and coach to prove he can do the job here or he has to win all of the games to even get considered.
Say we hire Herman and he loses to Bama and or Arky, Ole Miss next year, is he gone or does he get a different standard or timeframe for success than O? How long is his leash?
Is it simply wins and losses or trajectory of the team? Quality of play, evolution of strategy (philosophy), cultivation of talent?
One thing was for sure and that was the trajectory of LSU football was downward or flat lined with Miles. His philosophy guaranteed a team that would play not to lose and struggle to beat teams with equal or better talent. I believe we would eventually see blue chip WRs and QBs avoid the program.
Herman and Fisher would likely be able to avoid that offensive slide. A quality OC could as well if O somehow remains at the helm. I'll reserve judgement until the season concludes.

That's what you took from what I said?

Good posts Mickey Goldmill - I dunno why people can't seem to understand that?

matching wits with Saban, Freeze, and Sumlin on a yearly basis?

You think Bama looks at any team like the way LSU fans look at them? They are probably laughing at the OP.
Saban might throw the game if he thinks LSU will hire Coach O because of it. The last thing he wants is someone like Herman to be the next LSU coach.

far fetched, but i guarantee you he would love for Coach O to get the job.

All the rant idiots do is look at where he is from to know whether they want to keep him or not.
No matter how terrible he was a running a program , some are all in right now if you ask them.

That was tongue-in-cheek.
But I'm sure Saban would love for Coach O to be the permanent head coach.

Yep agree with this. Prove he can build a program. Show us he has learned from his mistakes.
I will welcome him with open arms. Otherwise nope.

Jesus. the fact that it is in that order is a pretty damn good sign this move would fail.
that move's success or failure has absolutely NOTHING to do with what a fan says. it's like you are saying since one fricking person thinks his accent is relevant he would be a failure. your reasoning is flawed to say the least. coach O has done a magnificent job so far and faces the hardest stretch of games I have ever seen in 50 years. let's see what he does.

Too many fans want CEO to be a great coach rather than look at the facts. Just because he is from Louisiana and talks like us doesn't mean he's what is best for the program. Even if he beats Bama, do you really want him matching wits with Saban, Freeze, and Sumlin on a yearly basis? This is just fricking retarded.
Great man, great representative of the state, not a good fit for LSU as a long term solution.
In other words, you are insinuating that coach Les Miles was a superior coach to coach O, because coach O happens to be a coon arse.
Sorry, but I don't agree with your assessment.

Fire one of the most successful coaches in the past ten years, only to promote the career D-line coach?
Uhm…Miles’ successful Won/Loss record wasn’t because he was a good coach, but instead was because he was at LSU. Furthermore, Miles lost a lot of close games that shouldn’t have even been close and that we shouldn’t have loss to begin with.
quote:
Beating Bama this year wouldn't prove anything because this isn't his team. It's Miles's team that Ed didn't screw up.
If this isn’t O’s team today, then we would have probably barely won the last two games or we would have lost the last two games. In addition, Miles’ old antiquated system would still be in place and Cam would still be OC and never would have been fired.
quote:
Saban turned around Michigan State
No, Saban had not turned around Michigan State yet, although he was on his way. Anyway, Saban had discussions with a former LSU assistant coach somewhere along the line, who told Saban that LSU was a sleeping giant because it resided right smack in the middle of the richest recruiting grounds in the USA. Meanwhile, Saban checked out the LSU situation in his free time, and then when the LSU coaching job became open, he told his agent to let LSU know that he was interested in the job.
quote:
Les resurrected OK State.
Not really, he brought Oklahoma State up to a level of respectability, but he did it with his predecessor’s recruits. Just as he won a national championship here with Saban’s recruits.
quote:
I want our next coach to have a proven track record of that kind of success before he is handed the keys to an SEC program
Meanwhile, Coach O is a far better coach and recruiter than Miles ever was. Thus, if he wins out the job should automatically be his, and if he finishes 4 & 1 or even 3 & 2, if the two losses came in close games, then he should also be considered for the job. I wouldn’t offer Coach O as much money as I would offer Coach Jimbo Fisher, but I wouldn’t offer Coach Herman no more money than I would offer Coach O. The difference being that Jimbo is a proven coach who already has a national championship under his belt, and Herman isn’t even a proven coach yet.
