If you are traveling into Baton Rouge, verify your hotel is open from flood

I made a reservation in September to stay in town for the Ole Miss game. I get an email from expedia today saying my reservation has been cancelled. So now I won’t be staying in BR for this weekend’s game. Don’t make the same mistake I did and assume that your hotel is open.

What is not taken up by flood victims is taken by FEMA and SBA.

I work at a hotel in Hammond and we've been sold out ever since the flooding. I'm actually surprised Expedia even allowed you to make a reservation in September because the flooding was in August. Pretty crappy they are letting you know the week of.

THIS. Someone dropped the ball here, either expedia or the hotel. But, I think with "subject to change" written in fine print...they are clear of any wrong doing.

I believe I read only 6-7% of hotel occupants are flood victims. Its FEMA, adjusters, workers, etc..taking up the rooms.

No doubt. Probably more on Expedia because it's who he booked through but still. I'd be pretty upset if I had a reservation and for it to be cancelled a few days before.

This is why I make reservations directly with the hotel I am staying at...

We stayed at Microtel (Wyndam prop) this past weekend and we seemed to be the only customers that weren't refugees or workers. We did get our room though.

Choice Hotels had a computer issue that allowed rooms to be booked after the flood as well. I had a room in Denham Springs for the Mizzou game that was canceled about a week before the game when they caught it in the system and the FEMA money was renewed. So they've not been perfect.

I had coworkers in town in mid-Sept, they stayed at the Hampton Inn on Rieger Rd. They booked maybe 2 weeks before
