Sankey Taking More Shots at Alleva and LSU

I didn't find this posted. My apologies if I missed it.
Also, is there anyone over Sankey. I looked on the SEC site for a Board of some sort. This is the first time I'd really like to write a letter about anything related to LSU, but I think lots of folks should write.

An excerpt:
quote:
"It was important for us to come to a resolution. Each university had its own set of concerns throughout this process, however existing SEC regulations did not provide an avenue to resolve conflicting issues in a more timely manner," Sankey said. "As I have repeatedly said, this game needed to be played. In the end, I want to give credit to the University of Florida for making concessions to move this year's game to Baton Rouge." Sankey continued with thanking others, but not once did he mention LSU. "Lastly, I send thanks to Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Karl Benson and his membership which worked in collaboration and a great spirit of cooperation in presenting options as we worked through this process," Sankey said. "I also thank Presbyterian for its understanding of this situation." Sankey went out of his way to show his gratitude to all parties involved in his statements on Thursday except for LSU. Not once did the commissioner thank LSU in his statement about the game being rescheduled for Nov. 19 in Baton Rouge as opposed to being played at its original location of Gainesville. Sankey failed to thank LSU in his latest remarks for offering to play the game on Saturday, Sunday and even Monday in Gainesville once Hurricane Matthew passed. He also failed to give LSU credit for going out of its way to accommodate Florida in playing the game last Saturday in Tiger Stadium by offering to help with travel to and from the game as well as with lodging. Sure, he made some remarks early in the week regarding the overtures, but when the dust settled, that was all forgotten.

Already been mentioned and posted a number of times. I don't even agree that he took shots.

This LSU/Florida crap is at critical mass for me. I don't care what who says about whom at this point.

I don't care about down or up votes. I rarely notice them.
I pasted the wrong part of the article, though. It was more about what he said this morning than yesterday. I know his statement yesterday has been posted. The new parts were just stated a few hours ago, apparently.
I'm ready to move on, but this guy is going to CYA himself by praising Foley and the statements this morning were more shots. I think he's wholly unprofessional and inaccurate in his evaluation of this situation and in making his public comments.
But, yeah, we can move on. I still may send a letter which will be worthless.

On Friday morning, Sankey spoke to the South Carolina Board of Trustees. He met with reporters after the event and once again shared his feelings on the way things were handled.
Once again, he applauded Florida and athletic director Jeremy Foley while continuing to take subtle shots at LSU athletic director Joe Alleva and LSU.
“I’ve been concerned since Monday when lines were drawn in the sand,” Sankey told reporters. “We are a conference that has done really, really well in handling things inside … It is difficult to come to conclusions when we are publicly stating lines in the sand. We can’t do that.
“And I give great credit to Jeremy Foley, great credit for when we reached an impasse, for stepping forward in I think the best interest of the conference, showing willingness to make an adjustment to this year’s schedule and to flip next year’s game.”
“I give credit to the University of Florida for stepping forward to do that,” continued Sankey. “We were coming to a place where we had to take a very different approach. I don’t think it would have been healthy.”
It’s kind of ironic that Sankey was preaching to an audience that did just what Florida could not do when it was faced with the same decision last year. South Carolina did not hesitate to move the game to Baton Rouge when flooding ravaged the area surrounding campus, but somehow that has gotten lost in all of the attaboys being dished out to Foley.
Sankey added that the SEC will use this to form more strict guidelines on how these matters will be handled going forward.
Sankey can continue to praise Foley for bending over backwards to make things work out.
However, LSU fans should applaud Alleva because he did exactly what he is paid the big bucks to do, and that is look out for LSU’s best interest. There was never going to be a real winner and loser in terms of who got the better deal.
Some see it as Alleva being unwilling to compromise when in reality all he did was stand up for what he felt was right.
And that game that Foley was so adamant about not playing in Baton Rouge that started all of this nonsense, everything came full circle to the place it should have landed two days before Matthew was scheduled to hit Gainesville.
I'm ready to move on, but this guy is going to CYA himself by praising Foley and the statements this morning were more shots. I think he's wholly unprofessional and inaccurate in his evaluation of this situation and in making his public comments.

I can understand why, he did get the worst of it....

What the f did Sankey think, that LSU would just say, whatever you decide Florida, if we can't play this weekend we will cancel our last non conf game and come to Gainesville to appease the SEC. After that we will go to A&M on Thanksgiving night too.
Whatever you decide Foley, LSU will do whatever you decide. I mean hurricanes are scary, we've never seen one here.
Sankey blew this and left it up to Foley and now he looks bad so he needs to blame someone, nice job Sankey, stop trying to cya when LSU was the only party open to trying to play last weekend.

You mean last Wednesday when Foley drew a line in the sand with the "this game will be played in Gainesville" comment, right Greg? fricking cocksucker. This guy isn't fit to be the commissioner of this conference.

frick you Sankey. LSU is done rolling over so the commissioner and the rest of the conference can stick one in "for the good of the league."
You are God damn right we are drawing lines in the sand, because if we don't stand up for ourselves, we get fricked. Every. Single. Time.
At the end of the day Sankey, this is your failure and yours alone. Grow some balls, use your authority as commissioner, and make sure games get played when they are supposed to get played. Don't try to pass the buck on Alleva for protecting his school's interests.
Thank you Joe Alleva for finally taking a hard line to protect LSU from getting screwed by the SEC.
ETA: the reason you are hearing such bitching from Sankey and Foley is because they didn't get their way. LSU refused to make it easy for them and bail them out after their stunning incompetence last week. They both come out of this situation looking like shite so they are trying to high five each other and take potshots at LSU for standing firm in what is right. It's like opposing fans complaining about "classless LSU fans" after getting their asses beat in TS. They have to put us down and prop themselves up so they can feel good about the situation. Bottom line is LSU tried to get the game played last week, and after they refused to cooperate he made damn sure we didn't take the hit for it this season.

I posted about this earlier and was called out for being a whiner. Fine, but watch how much this is going to bite LSU in the arse. You think we were not in good favor with the Conference before, just wait. You can forget any favors coming LSU's way this point forward. (not that we had any before). LSU is now the bad guy of the conference in the eyes of the SEC admins. Let's just say replay review decisions will be interesting to say the least.

Of course Sankey is going to side with UF in this case; he shares responsibility for not playing the game when it was supposed to be played. The SEC commissioner should had stood up to Foley and stated when and where the game was to be played rather than sitting by and twittleing his thumbs while UF refused to play under any circumstances. Sankey is taking heat for is do-nothing role and is trying to lay blame elsewhere.

Yeah, Foley and Sankey are basically taking turns blowing each other.
Sankey is taking shots at Alleva because Alleva has been transparent and not afraid to question how the SEC handled this situation.
Sankey is thanking Foley because even though Foley is the reason this game didn't get played last weekend, when he commented publicly on the matter, he made it sound like Sankey's decision and heaped praise on him for it.
Sankey doesn't care about anything that actually happened. He wants people to believe Foley's description of events because, even though Foley is being a bitch and hiding behind the league when explaining why the game wasn't played last weekend, at least in doing so he's making it seem like Sankey was in control.

Yeah there is a weakly helping of sodium and iron in that little snippet alone.
