I run the chains for Benton, so I've seen it used on the sidelines when the Caddo Parish schools come over to play (all Caddo Schools have it). Pretty cool tool. It has resulted in a few arse chewings, no skating by until Monday morning if you miss a block.

I remember back before Youree Drive got built up, so about 15 or 20 years ago, a friend's cousin from BR came to visit and I had to sit there and listen to him tell us that Baton Rouge was so much better than Shreveport because they had a Best Buy.

That's all I hear when BR people bash Shreveport in these threads: meaningless horseshite.

Yep. Baton Rouge is the Plano of Louisiana. If you want to go to a department store or chain restaurant, thats your town.

I believe Baton Rouge's problem is that it is 60 or 70 miles away from one of the nation's best cities. Outside of LSU sports, in terms of entertainment and attractions, it's simply a place to stop and fill up and pee while you head to New Orleans.

You can do all those thing anywhere, makes it Shreveport/ bossier real unique. The best thing they've done was put the boardwalk in.

But I think when bossier renovates Downtown to shops and eateries that it will thrive if they can keep it safe.

Lots of opinions in this thread but "keeping Bossier safe" isn't one. Everyone in the area knows Bossier police's reputation for not putting up with the same type of crime that occurs across the river. Any incidents that occurr would be isolated IMO.

They tried that under the bridge with predictable results, the whites refused to go because they felt to many blacks showed up.

I actually love to visit Shreveport. The board walk is really nice and there's a few places down town that offer a good night out.

How about if LSU stopped recruiting players from Shreveport Bossier area? What would the football team look like? All those players from U High go to Alabama. So you need Shreveport Bossier.

You are a sorry b!tch. Im from Houma and now live in Bossier. So going from the real south to the north, I can tell you Baton Rouge is the worst place in Louisiana, maybe only second to Monroe.

Take away LSU college life, and the city is nothing but Alton Sterling democrats.

Shreveport Bossier isn't perfect by any means, but its not Baton Rouge, and I'll take that.

I don't like baton rouge that much either. If every road was destroyed and rebuilt overnight, but while using logic this time..it would be such a better atmosphere.

My people are originally from houma too. Still a lot of them there, and that's where it feels different. Shreveport doesn't feel like louisiana, often feels like the food, sports and overall way of life is influenced by outsiders.

It does serve a positive for me, makes me appreciate where I came from.

Shreveport will never be great. It's not nearly as bad as these insecure Baton Rouge dumbasses try to make it out to be though.

Bossier on the other hand is a completely different situation. And the Cyber Innovation Center campus is what's going to drive it. CSRA has already moved into their new building there and they're hiring over 800 cyber related employees making good salaries. I work at the CIC and can tell you that place is the future of NW LA. There's a LOT of businesses looking at that. And the people who work in cyber are generally younger, smarter, and making more money than the poors in Shreveport or Baton Rouge will ever see. And they want stuff to do. That need will be filled. There's just too much money to be made. And it's going to be in Bossier.

Even CoHab is starting to realize cyber is the direction to go. They recently started searching for a director with cyber background. There's a lot of startups in this area and there's a lot of venture capital that's networked to support it.

There's people in Shreveport who want to make it better. They're doing a lot to make that happen but ultimately that becomes a political fight. And once you're on the wrong side of the new establishment there, you're just making enemies. I think some of these folks are probably going to just throw in the towel eventually.

That said, Downtown is making something of a revival. If they can clean up the asbestos situation in some of those buildings they could actually get them tenants. But these are not priorities for some of those in charge. Likely never will be.

Aquariums just aren't that fun any more after visiting the one in Atlanta. All others seem ordinary after visiting one big enough for freaking whale sharks.

Alanta has a whale shark? I thought only Okinawa had that.

3 million is low budget on an aquarium. Will it even have salt water exhibits?

There are alot of smaller exhibits that are fun. Seahorse tanks are cool. Also seeing real coral at an Aquarium is awesome. Usually don't see much of that.

They actually have two in the same tank - and it's not crowded in there either. The place is incredible. I've been to the ones in New Orleans, Houston, and Chicago, and Atlanta is just on a whole different level. It's quite impressive.

I was born there and lived there until I was mid 20's. I had never lived anywhere else. Now after living in several other cities and finally settling in Virginia, I don't even want to go visit Shitport. From the city counsel to rude people, don't miss it one bit
