Question about decoy rigging for you marsh guys

Looking to buy some decoys soon and am still undecided on how I want to rig them. I like the simplicity of texas rig, but IMO they're a pain in the arse in the boat and take up too much room compared to if I had the keel clutch anchors and keep them neatly in a bag. What should I do?

Dude, it took us a long time to learn, but if you keep your deke anchors reeeeal short (18-24") and use sliding egg sinkers,2-3oz, you don't have to wrap them at all. They come untangled themselves. You just need to buy the right egg sinkers that have a big arse hole in them so the deke line can slide through really easy. We use the stand up decoy sacks too. It makes picking up and putting out a breeze.

I understand that. My issue isn't tangling, it's more so transporting them. With T-rig they're all over the floor when I put them down since there is nothing to hang them on. Maybe shorter would be better but I like the keel clutch because they stow away better inside my boat in a bag. IDK just trying to get ideas

Have you tried the stand up bags?

Oh yeah that seems like the ticket, and I've got 2 spud poles already

The lifetimes don't use a sliding sinker correct?

That or you could make a stand out of 2x4s. Would take up a little more room though.

Correct. Sorry, for some reason that was a double post originally.

I bought that square bag made for TX rigged decoys. Works fairly well, has D rings for carbiners.

I rig my decoys with 52" of string, 8 oz mushroom weight Texas rigged. 2 stainless crimps. String thru the decoy and crimp, weight on and for another loop at the other end so you can transport them with a d-ring or zip tie to keep them all together. No decoy bags, they suck.

They make decoy bags specifically for Trig dekes. Even with keel lock u have to take each one and wrap it, so picking up each trig deke to clip is no extra step. I have a bag that has a hole in the bottom. once you clip each deke on the ring u pass the ring thru the hole and pull the bag around the dekes. Just like having a regular decoy bag. They also make a collapsible square one u can just throw each Trig deke in and your done..

Or just wrap the orange cord around the lines and lay them on the bottom of the boat. If that takes up too much room then you have too much crap in the boat.

Fixed weights (like Lifetimes) are the way to go. Those rigs are game changers.

Looks like the spud pole idea def eliminates the clutter in the floor of the boat. Only other logical option I believe is slotted bags, but with a few dozen deeks that becomes too much as well.

Just curious - why are you using 8oz weights? I use 3oz or 2oz on teal decoys, and 4 or 6oz on mallard and goose floater decoys. Do you hunt somewhere with a lot of current?
