You guys are placing WAY too much emphasis on national titles. Miles and Chizik have shown that simply coaching in the SEC and getting a little lucky is enough to win a national championship.

Harbaugh has taken two programs from irrelevance to championship caliber. His national championship will come. To drop him a tier because it hasn't happened yet is silly, as the odds have always been stacked against him.

You are judging coaches by what they have to work with, when you should be judging coaches by what they've done with what they had.

I agree. I don't think you could find anyone who would take Miles or Chizik over Harbaugh.

That in and of itself shows it's a flawed criteria. Harbaugh, in my opinion, has demonstrated he's among the elite.

I never dropped him a tier. I simply responded to your comment that his resume "literally could not be any better" by saying that it would be better had he won one already. Not knocking him for it.

He did great turning Stanford into a stable program, but let's not act like Michigan was some monumental rebuild. His upperclassmen were part of top-10 recruiting classes. All they needed was competent coaching.

exactly, not very easy to win a natty at Stanford for crying out loud, he just turned around a terrible 49er team into superbowl team and lost a close game to his older brother... he is up there with Saban and Meyer..
