Exactly right...I'd bet 70% of the folks around me are there just for the social aspects of the event...most don't watch the game much and leave early.

I love LSU, love TS (lived in it from '83-'85), and it gives me the sads to what is happening and I can't Joe doing even recognizing the concern.

We're similar in age. Difference is, we were hungry back then Today's group expects it. We grew up hearing about the 59 championship and legends of LSU, romanticized it all in our heads, playing it over and over again, and we yearned for that experience, or at least I did. Where yesterday's group wanted to rock the place and do whatever they could to help the team, today's group is not so aggressive or hungry. They kind of expect it, and while I can appreciate the expectation level going up, with it and TV every game comes a little more tamer tiger fan and one that expects it to happen, because for many, they didn't experience the desire to attain it, or they quickly forgot what it was like to be constantly looked over.

The interior ...

I was with you until this:

If you renovate it, they will stay.

Calling bullshite. Fans have used every excuse in the book. Too early. Too hot. Too late. Have to get the kids to bed. Can't keep the drunk going. Too much traffic. Coaching/play on the field not good enough. Coaching/play on the field too good. Need beer. Needless to say, our bitchy fans will always find a new excuse to whine about. When they renovate the stadium over the next couple of off-seasons, what do you think the next excuse will be?

I agree the Pussification of America is rampant, but the fact remains that Tiger Stadium needs a complete interior overhaul.

I agree with that 100% and am glad that they are going to be doing that. And Mike da Tigah hit the nail perfectly on the head.

I think I might spit in the dipping dots of the next assholes that walk in front of me during a 4th and goal.

I understand that nature calls - not always at the most convenient times - and I get that it's hot and people want something to drink. I'll even excuse the guy that has to take his kid to get something. But damn! Is it really too much to ask that you do most of this shite during halftime, after an early non-important punt, or when we're at least on defense (not in the red zone)???

I'd say that the majority (seriously over 50%) of the people there aren't too into the game. They all want to chat, get a good selfie, checkup on Facebook, get ice cream, or some other bullshite. Sure, they might give a good cheer during a big play, but other than that they are just window dressing. Especially the shithead that just has to call his buddy nine sections over, stand up, and wave for him through an entire quarter.

I guess the game has become more of a social event rather than a sporting contest. At least the Box has held its own against the social flowers - they're still there but not nearly at the level of TS.

Joe doesn't force 1/4 of the grown arse men to be staring at their phone all game. Or for the crowd to leave.

Put the damn phone down for three hours and actually cheer. You can live without it

What exactly do you want him to do? Other than influencing the music, what exactly do you think Joe can do to improve TS right now? Aren't the opponents selected years in advance? Doesn't the SEC dictate home/away games? Doesn't TV coverage pretty much set the start time for the games? And doesn't the OOC rent-a-win team have to agree to come here? I agree TS has lost some of its luster, but what makes you point to JA as the problem?

Or are you just trying to rag on him for the sake of ragging on him?

The lower bowl concourses are scheduled to be remodeled during the offseason, this coming offseason. I shite you not. They had to move Bayou Country Super Fest because all of the bathrooms are being renovated.

So with this in mind, can you rantards please quit bitching about the shitty concourses, concessions, and bathrooms until next season since they're all supposed to get a massive facelift immediately after this season is over.

By no means. I was simply pointing out that the decline of TS is happening on Joe's watch. Moreover, I've seen little from Joe that he even understands what made TS special in the first place. On the contrary, he seems intent on moving TS to just another venue instead of THE venue in CFB.

There's much that Joe can do nothing about. I get that. I don't fault him for it. And to be fair, I don't know how effective his efforts would be. But I don't think Joe is really trying because Joe doesn't even get it.

For starters:
1) Talk about what made TS great. Talk about it incessantly.
2) Get rid of the piped-in noise. CFB has an ebb-n-flow for fans. The piped-in noise disrupts this. I feel like like I'm fighting the stuff off by the 4th qtr.
3) Schedule a marquee OOC team. It can still be done (TX-ND and tOSU-OU are but two examples from this year). Just going off the top of my head, in the 70's we played ND, A&M, Neb, USC, Colorado (they were good back then), and FSU in TS. In the 80's, we played ND (2X), tOSU, A&M (2X), UNC, FSU (4X), Miami. Compare that to now, since 2000 we've played (if I'm overlooking someone, make note) VaTech, WVU, AZ, and UW. It's time.

You are correct sir.

We were crap during the late 70s and early 80s. And it was loud and intimidating.

People who have only been around TS since 2000 think it's about coaches and winning. And that is part of the reason the mystique is gone.
