Thank your idiot vocal minority who shouts get in the hole on the tee of a par 5

Like seriously I wonder what goes through people's head, is it an attempt at being funny?

Can't say much about the continental Europeans, but the British have NO room to talk. The English are despised for their soccer hooligans and the Scottish Tartan Army is renowned for being the largest gathering of alcoholics on match days. Then the English have the Barmy Army for cricket matches. Ask the Australians how they behave during the Ashes, which is supposed to be a gentleman's game as well.

The Ryder Cup gives the British press an excuse to hate on Americans and exert their moral superiority, nothing else. Funny coming from a country that less than 75 years ago still colonized almost half of the world.

Me? I've never been.

I'm the vocal minority? LOL!

I'm just commenting that no matter what USA fans do, they are always portrayed as uncouth. Maybe sometimes they are?

But this headline is nothing new. It's every Ryder Cup.

I'm talking about European headlines...regardless of what happened on the greens.

Can you read. You thought I was defending some people I know or something? I've never even been but I know from being in Europe, you don't have to be that much of a boorish American to be labeled boorish. They anticipate it and look for it. Maximizing their reporting.

You think all Americans who went to the Ryder cup were assholes? Wow!

You sound like someone who believes the Daily Mail is an honest rag.

Those countries were objectively better off when part of the UK. But my point was that the British press uses a golf event that occurs every two years to justify to itself that all Americans are boorish idiots. Should we judge England by its football fans in Marseilles?

Why would I be commenting on what you are like?
I imagine this is a textbook case of people not knowing the difference between your and you're. I said your as in belonging to you, in this case Americans, not you are as in specifically about you.

I was responding to your post...and how do you accurately read the words "vocal minority" then determine I'm calling all Americans assholes?

Obviously the press find and embellish anything and everything to get more eyeballs, English fans in Marseille being a spot on example, I was in France for the Euros and know exactly what it was like and how wrongly people were portrayed.

Tl:dr
Press embellish
First guy can't tell the difference between your and you're
The 10 people who shout get in the hole after every shot still need to be culled

YOU ARE MENTALY not seeing Ryder cup posts straight.

All other posters have been posting is the history of European media toward the US.

you accuse me of being the guy on the ground...I'm not there.

I've posted less damning stuff than guys on the ground.

So therefore you hate everyone on the ground.

I don't condone any crazy behavior...

But the Euros have always embellished.

You should like you like to embellish and make things up and side with Europe.

But you are apparently a European plant on TD.

Shitting on everyting American unless it's not - tea and crumpetet.

And you sound like a crazy PERSON

It's poor form to heckle and cheer bad shots during every tournament, so why is it different this event?

Because it's a team competition representing their country/continent and doesn't have any implications in terms of prize money, fedex cup points, etc.

It's a large scale exhibition match where pride is on the line more than anything else.

Watching golf channel right now. They showed a clip of Patrick Reed doing the hush thing at the previous Ryder cup. The crowd was booing him those nice Euros I can't believe it.

Why is it acceptable to act like this at the Ryder Cup but not regular tournaments? Golf would be so much fun if it was rowdy during PGA events.

I don't condone yelling in backswings and such, but the Euros act like it doesn't happen over there. It does Americans just don't cry like babies about it.

This is a British newspaper rant...

And it shows you where they are coming from and why they cried about a few rowdy fans. They have the most one-sided stereotypical ideas about American people. So if a few boorish American fans make a spectacle at a golf tournament, the Euros pounce.

Want to know what Donald Trump’s America will look like? Check out the crowds at the Ryder Cup

quote:

Apart from a wispily bearded Tiger Woods (a non-playing US vice-captain), it was a struggle to identify a black face in the 50,000 strong crowd. Staggeringly white, petulant and entitled, and aggressively taunting the Europeans, they relentlessly chanted “USA! USA!” to the tune – and with the same guttural menace – of a Trump rally’s “Lock her up! Lock her up!” at every mention of Hillary Clinton.

quote:

If golf were one entity with a head, it would be covered with a white hood. If it had a heraldic symbol, it might be the flaming cross rampant.

quote:

Nothing flushes the racist American out of his hidey hole like the sight of Obama in a golf buggy, when they believe he should be serving mint juleps in the clubhouse. Whenever a member of the lynch mob right trots out the trope about Obama golfing while America burns, you can smell the “uppity” on their breath from the other side of the ocean.

quote:

They never whine about "The Prez" playing basketball, though he does that much more often. But, hey, hoops be what black folks s’posed to play, y’all. Golf isn’t, and they religiously count up his every round. One such calculator is a candidate to succeed him.

Has two friends there yesterday . They told me it was way out of control and the drunk funks ruined it for many with personal insults hollered in the backswings and over putts. Many were thrown out, but it still sucks. The game should be respected and it was not.

All this. Drunken buffoons going to golf tournaments for the Facebook pictures. Patrons should have to be able to define what under par means before entering the gates.

I think the crowds should be allowed to get rowdy at an event like this.

In football there is a precise play that has players running full speed wearing a helmet as a weapon into other human beings. That play has to be relayed from the sideline to a quarterback in the middle of the field.

That's when we as football fans are supposed to get the rowdiest.

Yet some dude, all by himself, needs total quiet during his backswing? Forget about it.

Edit: Lots of quick downvotes, I'm sure it's something about the sanctity of the game and precision and focus required. It's harder to hit a fricking curve then drive a golfball and we get loud at baseball games.

Obviously you've never attended a golf tournament before. There's excessive noise and movement all over the place, it's not dead stand still silence when players are hitting, just the front few rows where the cameras pick up. Also, fans are able to get very close to the players where you can literally touch these guys with your hands they're so close on the tee box and some rough shots, not 50 yards away like a football stadium. Then there's the history of the sport which one of more appreciation of what these guys can do on a golf course and the fact that people of any sex, age, race can play and discuss family, business and anything else. There's plenty of football, baseball, basketball, and horse races for people to get obliterated at.

BTW Jordan Spieth, Bubba, Patrick Reed were just a few who were trying to shut some of our fans up in defense of the Eurooeans.
