The funny thing about LSU fans and Saban is that Saban really wasn't all that special at LSU. He had several WTF games and had one great season then bolted for the NFL.

The NFL is really where the coach we see now was developed. From game planning, to game prep, to in game coaching and talent evaluation all dramatically improved after his return from the NFL.

So a guy who spent a good portion of his career prior to LSU coaching in the NFL learned how to be a coach in Miami? How much did he learn when he mailed it in his last year with the dolphins?
