It still gets brought up from time to time.

No coach will ever make the mistake of saying "i'm not going to leave" just to get the media to quit asking questions again.

USC's admin is more fricked up than LSU's right now. LSU is a better job than them right now.

They do it all the time and will continue to do it.

You should know this better than anyone.

Exactly - seemed to leave himself plenty of wiggle room. Anybody who LSU has reached out to is going to continue to deny it until after the season.

The more and more likely it appears that Herman or another big name coach might come to LSU, the more and more people will come in here and try to attack it. Just ignore them.

They don't make definitive statements its all "i'm not discussing that" "focusing on this team right now" "haven't talked to anyone" - leaving plenty of wiggle room.

Nobody says "I will not leave / I will not be the coach at" even though those are the only statements that will get the media to stop asking questions.

Well no shite they're not open right now, I don't remember the last time I saw a coach fired the first month of the season

At the end of the year there will be more openings.

That comment from Saban was what I was alluding to at the starting point of the discussion ...

I know. The whole starting point of this conversation was when I said seeing as how that worked out for Saban, nobody is ever going to say that kind of comment again just to get the media to move on because of how it came back to bite him

I don't know what will or if it ever will."

Doesn't flow as well as "I'm here to coach my damn strong football team....Have a great day!"

I agree - i don't care and thought it was overblown from the outset. I was just pointing out how other coaches will probably not make the same mistake seeing as how Saban got crucified in the media for it in the aftermath.
