Who will LSU be competing with for their next head coach?

Auburn may be looking. Texas is looking shaky. USC? Penn State? Oregon is starting to look like they may be looking for a new head coach. There may be a lot of competition for those top tier coaches...
Also, is there a chance that Little Nicky retires?

We have no clue honestly. It is way too early.

Auburn and Penn State are a tier below LSU. ND is not attractive IMO and they're crazy if they get rid of Kelly. USC and Texas are the only competition at this point.

Who knows..Texas might end up finishing well and keeping strong for another year. I think Helton gets another year at SC but that's just my opinion.

As of right now. FIU. Call it a hunch, but I think we are the better job.

I don't think it will be any program near the same level unless Texas faceplants. We should have our pick of the litter

Dave Doeren is on the hot seat

I can't see USC pulling the plug after one season unless Helton starts showing up to work drunk.

Why do I see this idea of USCw firing Helton after 1 season in so many places? The only CFB coach who got fired after 1 season was a guy who immediately took a team from 12-2 to 0-12. (Ellis Johnson at Southern Miss.)
Anyway Notre Dame, Oregon, Auburn, NC State, Boston College, Kentucky maybe TAMU, maybe PSU, maybe Georgia Tech.

I don't see Texas coming open unless they just absolutely shite the bed over the last 2/3 of the season, same with USCw. They both need stability right now, especially USC where they've had a coaching carousel since Pete Carroll left. I think you'll definitely have to contend with Auburn, and I could see Kentucky looking although neither would necessarily be direct competition as LSU is the better job. There will probably be another "surprise" opening in the SEC (like TAMU) to contend with, along with an unexpected major opening outside of the conference like OU, ND, Penn St, etc.

OU won't fire Stoops. He's not as great as he used to be but it still would be hard for OU to find a better coach. He's still winning 75-80% of his games even if he's not winning 90% of the time like he did in the early 2000s.

They were in the playoffs last year. Stoops has another year at least

A lot of the same could have been said about Miles.

Based solely off of "coaches hot seat"
USC (Clay Helton)
Boston College (Steve Addazio)
Texas (Charlie Strong)
Fresno State (Tim DeRuyter)
Auburn (Gus Malzahn)
Notre Dame (Brian Kelly)
Purdue (Darrell Hazell)
Kentucky (Mark Stoops)
Oregon State (Gary Andersen)
Kansas (David Beatty)
Georgia Tech (Paul Johnson)
Northwestern (Pat Fitzgerald)
Oregon (Mark Helfrich)
Army (Jeff Monken was reprimanded by the PC police for leading a prayer with the team)
Baylor (no way Grobe is there more than one season)

True. But I think OU fans are more content with Stoops than LSU fans were with Miles. From reading OU boards there is some frustration with Stoops not doing as well as he once did. But nobody seems to want him fired. The fan attitude is more like "what can Stoops do to turn us into an annual NC contender again", not fire Stoops.

You are reading different boards than me then. Landthieves looks at Herman as the savior, like almost every major program that has fallen on hard times.

Meant to do up vote. Fat fingered down instead.

Yeah Grobe will probably be gone unless Baylor wins the NC.
But he's an interim coach and was never intended to be permanent.
