What should LSU do if one of these 3 scenarios happen with Orgeron as HC

Lets say hypothetically one of the following 3 things take place. (For arguments sake in all of these scenarios you lose Coach O if you publicly offer Herman.)
Scenario 1: Tom Herman has made it known through private conversations with LSU officials that he will come if offered, HOWEVER, Coach O runs the table including winning the SEC and a New Years Day bowl. (No playoff though because of 2 losses)
Scenario 2: Tom Herman has shown strong interest, but it's not a lock that he comes. Meanwhile, Coach O wins all remaining games except Bama and consequently doesn't play for the SEC but wins a nice bowl game.
Scenario 3: Tom Herman has shown strong interest, but it's not a lock. Meanwhile, Coach O goes 6-2 with losses at Florida and at Arkansas, but wins at home against Ole Miss and Bama and beats Texas A&M on the road. No SEC championship and a nice bowl win.
I think scenario 1 and 3 really put the search committee in a conundrum. 1 because Herman is a lock but you've got Coach O looking like a world beater and long term he's not a threat to jump to Texas like Herman.
3 is tough because Coach O looks good but he does have a few losses and also Herman isn't a lock. What do you do there?
Thoughts?

If Herman wants to come, you better sign his arse. I don't care if we win every game by 100

Scenario 1: They keep O.
Scenario 2: They keep O.
Scenario 3: They explore options.

We don't have to worry about this scenario. I'm not a betting man, but I would bet just about my life's savings that LSU will not, under any circumstances, go undefeated under an interim head coach.
Scenario 3 is most likely. This team's current ceiling with the remaining 8 games is around 6-2. LSU doesn't have more than perhaps three, and even that number is questionable, guaranteed wins on the remaining schedule. It would be a decent accomplishment on Orgeron's part given the current state of affairs, but it doesn't warrant him being offered the job.
The key is long-term sustainability and returning to the status of one of the top programs in the nation. Are you really confident that Orgeron has the capability of making this a 10-win team or better on a regular basis? Because I don't.
I think he's probably one of the three best defensive line coaches in all football. He's a great representative of this state, but he has no business being the "CEO" of one of the biggest brands in collegiate athletics.

What if Strong is fired in 2 or 3 years and Herman jumps to Texas? It's a very real possibility that I think the search committee has to consider....especially if Coach O is looking like a world beater.

While I agree, it would certainly be sweet and it would really put the search committee in a tough spot.

coach o is not a long term solution. he will be a fantastic interim and will probably win some games he's not supposed to.
i am in shock so many people think his is viable.

Let me be clear. I'm not stumping for O as our next head coach. However, in the past I've seen schools get enamored with an interim head coach that does well over the course of a remaining season AND comes with a cheaper price tag. In their minds, best of both worlds. Usually though it backfires.
I want Tom Herman. I'm afraid that a strong showing by O and "state financial crisis" means we end up with O.

This. If you think Herman MIGHT come, you better leave the job open as long as possible.
LSU did not fire it's winningest coach and pay a $13M buyout so that they could promote the DLine coach.
Think about that for a second.

I don't think it is the absolute best option but I think that it will appear that way for LSU if we win some games. He is by far the cheapest option, very passionate, definitely won't bolt, and wants the job. Our players love him.

Again, I agree. Sign Herman at all costs. But will the search committee see it that way when Herman's price tag will be 5 or 6mil and Coach O is 2 or 3mil.

But thats my point. There is no way the BOS and Alleva go into this thinking they will pay any less than $5M a year. for the simple fact that they had to pay big money just to get here.
Thats like spending the money for a Ferrari and then going cheap and putting a Pinto engine in it. It's a joint purchase.

If the LSU admin isn't willing to pay at least $5mil, then they should have just kept Miles. $5mil is the starting salary for a coach coming in to a program at LSU's level.
I think there's a possibility that you start negotiations with a coach like Herman at $4mil, it's a million dollar raise for him and he still hasn't really proved himself as a head coach so maybe you can get him for a little bit less. But if they're not willing to go to $5-$6 mil, then it will be a 'meh' hire.

Coach O has only put together 1 staff while a head coach and his results were not very good at Ole Miss. Having the interim tag takes a lot of pressure off the coach. Should he have gotten the USC gig...maybe, but my primary concern is him being the "face of the program". I think he is a great recruiter/motivator, but I just don't see him as a front man.

You don't make a hire worrying about this. What would you suggest taking a lesser candidate because you might have to compete to keep your coach some time on the future. Hell you'd hope he'd do so well that other programs would want to steal him away.

If LSU runs the table, including the SEC Championship game, it will be one of four teams in the Playoffs.
