How old do you think Saban is?

Most people at penn state fans still worship joe pa. That doesn't make it ok.

But still, perception is reality to so many people.
People sthat concern themselves with optics are idiots. Winning trumps all. For better or worse

Most people in Waco think the Briles thing was a media witch hunt. They love Briles. The guy can flat out coach. Read this and tell me it doesn't make you think about the Duke Lacrosse witch hunt. I'd be thrilled with Briles.
Exactly. Those here talking against Briles are just repeating the usual media circus hearsay. They've put no effort into finding the truth, and would rather lazily just call him a "rape supporter".

He knows plenty about defense, but he was working with freaking Baylor. Defense improved dramatically in his last 3 years. He finally got the recruiting depth to make it work. He built the team on offense, but the defense was making huge strides.
He won at Baylor... BAYLOR!!! It's crazy to think of what he could do at LSU.

No, he's 60. You're an entire decade off.

2. He doesn't play defense. That's really really important in the SEC. See aTm
Thats why you hire a DC like Aranda. If I'm taking you literally, of course he doesn't play defense, because he's a coach.
Also, the change of pace in playing style might lead to more points overall but it doesn't mean your defense is worse. Alabama seems to have NO issue winning a game 48-43. Do you think any less of their defense? Alabama seems to do that a few times every year. Bama is prepared to play at the pace they need to maximize their talent.
This " every SEC team should be good at defense" line is bullshite. LSU needs to stop focusing on one thing and think about the entirety of the game plan, and thats exactly why they were in this position in the first place.

Just excuse these folks. They probably just started posting last week, and they've been watching mud pile football for 6 years now. They have a hard time grasping the dominant playing style in college football today.

You do realize, he is bad for the brand. When schools do well in football it increases their brand. Schools get more applicants to attend school, get more money from contributions from AD, they potentially get better professors because of school recognition. Briles will hurt the academic value (not that LSU has any) of LSU. He is bad for what southeast Louisiana represents and our value of community. Just stay in Dallas with your cowgirls and not worry about hiring bad options for coaches.

I don't think you're qualified to make any judgments on an issue you simply have no facts about.

So, the football coach dictates whether or not a kid will attend LSU for engineering? Are you being serious?

You're simply not a person that I think would know about this type of thing.
Again, you're saying all of this without really even knowing what happened at Baylor, or if Briles is even at fault. What do you really even know about what supposedly happened? I'm guessing you know very little, if anything at all. Try to read about it a bit more, and then maybe you can come back and discuss it with reason. Baylor actually tried to hire Briles back, and his entire coaching staff is still employed there. Also, the NCAA hasn't put any show clause on him, nor have any authorities charged him with any crime. The only thing he's involved with regarding this issue in the judicial system is a defamation suit against Baylor for throwing him under the bus.
OR you could just pick up your pitchfork and join the ignorant mob mentality.

Weird how people believe the crap they hear on ESPN and take it as gospel. That network is is more akin to the National Inquirer than it is a journalistic endeavor.
Briles was the scapegoat. Baylor conducted "investigations" which Briles acted upon.

You're a dick. I support LSU as much as anyone on here. You think Coach O is better for LSU? Can hardly utter a sentence that the rest of the world can understand... Has a well documented history of crazy, drunken antics... Is a proven loser as a HC. That's our current situation.
I like Briles. Always have. He's not squeaky clean, but who is? Which one of these guys at the college level are fielding a team of good little angels? Which one is not just trying to keep a lid on the crap some of their players are involved in?
Briles will win. He did it at an inferior program for a long time. He could win big here.

They threw him under the bus because he is the man in charge and the face of the Baylor football brand. Who else are they going to throw under the bus?
Baylor did not try to hire him back, but the donors tried to convince and petition Baylor to do so because of what he did for the team.
How do you know I don't have facts? I live in Austin and go to UT. Waco is only an hour and half.
Research and statistics and shown when a school has a ranked football team it has direct correlation with students applying to the programs at a higher rate than when a school does not have a ranked or successful program. but I guess you don't understand how the academic world works do you? You must think football is the most important thing at a university. Sad! Maybe you need to get your fact sheets together and understand more about what actually happened in Waco and why Baylor terminated Briles.

When did I say Coach O is better for LSU? I think by saying he wasn't successful in the SEC and he only had a winning record as interim at USC. So no, I do not think that he will do well.

The administration who was literally to ones responsible for putting a system in place to deal with NCAA issues.
Briles is a football coach. He's not paid to learn NCAA compliance codes. I don't think he attended law school.

He is 60
And if you're at a place like Baylor you can't split your athletes like we can.
But yeah it's concerning and I would rather a few other coaches

It doesn't matter, he is still the face of the program and the brand. He is the one that all of the fans, reporters, potential recruits and students see consistently.
