Now that hes out of a job, should we go after him?

Hes a Michigan Man, and Miles would probably like that.

Wolverine Nation was out for his blood after the Appalachian State and Oregon debacles. Defense? What defense?

Thanks to English Michigan was the only team to hold OSU to under 20 points all year. Rocky start? Oh yeah but when the team is hung over for the first game of the year there's only so much a coach can do. I'm mad he didn't get to finish out his contract. He's very respected by the players and I think he'll continue to improve, especially under a HC who doesn't think it's still 1987.

I don't know much about Tenuta's philosophy on stopping the spread offense, but English sure ain't got one that's good enough.

There's nothing that says RR won't hire some of them back. As I said in another post, I suspect there's some benefit to all those guys to having their contracts terminated, even if they're hired back. That said, I would suspect that RR will bring in a DC that he's worked with before. Or at least one that will assure him the autonomy from Carr that he surely is entitled to.

Hell no. The only good offensive teams they've played have lit them up the last 2 years. OSU and USC last year and OSU, Appy State and Oregon this year. Overrated IMO.

English has gotten better calling the D against a spread O. This is his 2nd yr in that role. It showed against Illi and OSU this yr.

I wouldnt throw him to the dogs at this time...he showed some potential. He has the look of constipation if nothing else...and that will scare a player to play well :P

I don't want a coach who is still trying to get better at defending the spread. I want somebody who is already good at it. And,

The players aren't scared of him, maybe he just smells from shitting his pants.

App. State beat Mich with the spread, what do you think Florida would do to Ron English? Haven't we already seen that the Big 11, and Big 12 read/react defenses don't work that well in the SEC?

Bring Tenuta!!!Bring the Pain!!!

English has proven to not be a good big game coach, and can't seem to adjust during the game. Michigan's defense was incredible last year, and they got torched by OSU. (No answer for Troy Smith) Then, in the Rose Bowl vs. USC, the halftime score was 3-3. USC made adjustments at halftime and started attacking our secondary. English had no answer, and we ended up losing by 14 points.

Six starters then went to the NFL, and some of them are already starting with their new teams. The young guys that played this season were not close to being prepared for the openener vs. App. State. That falls on coaching. And then they continued to fall apart the next week vs. Oregon. After week 2, the defense started improving.

The defense did play well against Ohio State this year, but I think that had a lot more to do with Tressel's conservative play calling. Tressel knew all he had to was pound the ball, control the clock, score a few points and let his defense do the rest. Michigan's offense was playing with a one-armed QB and a one-legged TB. They just couldn't get it done. And Tressel knew it.

English in the SEC under Coach Miles = recipe for success! I love it but I think English will be a head coach next year.
