Haven't used it that much. I have texting blocked on my phone. I use iMessage with my iPhone friends and use to use Google Hangouts with a Google Voice number for everyone else. Hoping Allo works out better for that. This way saves me $10 a month because I am still grandfathered unlimited with Verizon. Texting isn't included with the grandfather plans.

Just downloaded, a friend just told me when you send a text it doesn't show up with your phone number it shows a Google number.
Kind of dumb, if you have to ask "who is thos" every time.

I just installed it. I dont have an opinion about it yet but the first thing it does is ask you your phone number. My guess is he skipped that part.

i do like how when you receive a text it pops up a couple of obvious replies in bubbles. if you want to use one of the replies you just click it. if not just start typing your response.

No, he's right. If you don't have Allo installed, it shows a Google number if someone messages you from Allo. It also tells them about Allo and how to unsubsribe from getting Allo messages. It doesn't substitute your number, which is kinda disappointing. Not a direct substitute for Texting, if the person doesn't want Allo, they have to add a new number to your contact info.

pictures come through pretty huge. cant decide if it's good or bad. but if every person you send a message too keeps getting asked to install the app that makes it kinda pointless.

gotcha. well i have no explanation. maybe because it's iphone. but i sent it to two people and they definitely knew it was me. but again i really dont know why the different outcome for you.

Ya if you send a message to android its fine.
Send a message to an iphone and you get a weird 5 digit number plus whatever you typed in as your name when you set it up. Not all bad, but sucks if you don't have someone's number and you need to actually call them.
