Still doesn't explain why if the goal is for data collection why not make apps people actually want to use. I won't ever open allo again until they integrate SMS fully.

Google Plus didn't beat Facebook, are you trying to tell me that getting user data and user engagement that they were losing to a 3rd party wasn't the goal of Google Plus?
