Why are Jewish people so white looking even though they're from the Middle East?

I've never understood why they look so much different from the Arab neighbors. Did Jewish people just mix with the European people a whole lot after they were forced to flee Israel in AD 70? Were people in ancient Israel so white looking, or is that just a post Roman Revolt thing?

Because there was a huge influx of european jews once israel was founded. In fact, they europeans and the "native" jews didnt exactly get along for a while.
