PSA: Six teams ranked ahead of us lost today

Six teams ranked ahead of us lost today. Two others won but looked like shite against inferior opponents in so doing.
Our season is far from over. Our defense is stellar. Our offense under Etling looks better than it has in years.
Bama isn't as good as they have been in recent years (at least not as of now).
Arkansas, Auburn, Bama, Florida, Ole Miss and A&M are all games we can win.
Whether you like it or not, we're going to contend for the West. Nobody in our division is so good this year that we don't have at least a 50% chance of beating them.
If we go on a run, there's going to be some very unhappy negatigers upset about our success. This board should be a goldmine of entertainment if it turns out that we develop into one of (if not the) best team(s) in the division.

And if this oh so bold prediction doesn't come to pass, will you post on here that you were wrong? Doubtful.

Bama always starts off September unimpressive. By November/December, they are finely tuned. I'm not a Saban worshiper, but he's legit. His teams consistently get stronger. They will be a force.
Unfortunelty for us it seems like what we have in September is what we have in December. Hope this year Is different. We need it to be if we want to make some noise.

I was thinking we had a real shot at the playoffs during the first half of the game to be honest
Then the second half happened and that ended that

We have to deal the knockout blow. We left them in the game too long. That's on the coaches IMO. They have to get the team after it. If we can do that.....
It's still early.

I believe we can beat everyone in our conference too but there's very minimal chance that we are consistent enough to do so

For the fans wanting us to lose so that Miles will be fired, how long do you really expect him to stick around anyways?
I was ready to move on too, even though I expected this season to be fairly successful with Miles.
So let's say we end up having a solid year, as in winning the West, are you thinking that means Miles will be here another 5 years? Another 10? I don't think that will happen.
I think Miles is done, but wants to go out on his terms. I don't expect Miles to be here in 2018 whether we win or lose this year. He might even be gone next year depending on how well/poorly we end up doing this year.
I'm not holding my breath for a championship, but I'm going to sit back and watch it all unfold.

Man, I remember pumping so much f*ckin sunshine. I wish I could look at the last two years and the first three games of this year and say that we will win every game. I hope we do, I just don't see it. Etling looks tons better than Harris, he really does. We may be able to do it. And I'll be happy. But I just don't see the thought process in people who are upset that other people are tired of their team playing like sh*t, and wanting to throw success that we might not even have in our face. We have a better shot of losing 6 games than we do of running the table. That's just a fact. We can finish anywhere in between. But regardless, we are likely looking at another mediocre finish, because nothing that I've seen has shown me that we will win every game. If we tear Auburns @ss up next week I might start to think its possible. But from I've seen the last three games losing to a very mediocre Wisconsin team to barely winning against the worst team in our division, I'd say you're smoking crack to be so sure we end up undefeated. And I've said this in other posts, show me the last year that LSU got better as the season went on. Hows that record been in November lately? Please tell me. Oh I forgot, everything will be different this year. Well I guess we'll see....

After watching 3 weeks of football, everybody in the West is beatable except Bama. The only reason I say except Bama, is because they have Saban.
Mizzu has a good offense now, but their defense has fallen back. Florida is decent on both sides, but we've put up 30 and 35 points against them in the last 2 years.
TAMU, like I said in the offseason, is the 3rd best team in the division, but until we lose to them, I can't say that's a loss. Auburn looks like typical Auburn, but JH ain't no joke no matter how good they are. Ole Miss is still Ole Miss and that might be a shoot out. Southern Miss is similar to Western Kentucky and South Alabama is South Alabama. Arkansas is still the little sneaky kid throwing rocks behind Daddy Bama, so that's also tough.
By the time we get to Ole Miss this LSU team will be seasoned with a stout defense and potent offense. Gamble has actually started becoming a plus on the special teams, and Guice, White, and Jackson are all capable of breaking one open in the return game as well.
Best case scenario is that we win out and Miles retires cementing himself as the greatest coach in LSU history. Worst case is that we don't continue to open up the offense for Etling and end up losing 3 more games. He should be burning through the play book by November (similar to Mett).
Ultimately I think we finish 10-3 and with that, Miles should be out the door.

This year is already different. Haven't lost an opener in forever. If we can stay healthy and get the type of passing game we saw last night, our running game is about to explode. Fournette nearly eclipsed 2000 without a passing game and running into 8-9 man boxes.

Anyone is capable of being beat - just takes on run of bad luck with turnovers. If LF hadn't lost that fumble and we score on that drive, the game is likely a blowout and we'd have a board full of sunshine pumpers today. This defense will get better and better and we'll start snatching more turnovers too.

This Bama team is not great. It will lose a game or two. LSU needs start playing much better if it us going to be one of those teams that beats Bama.

It is peculiar that Saban teams always get stronger as the year goes on but Miles teams always tend to look and play worn out in the last few regular season games

Bama will lose a game or two??? Please tell me who knocks them off during the regular season...

The biggest takeaway is that we played last nights game reminiscent of an end of November type game. It's only our 3rd game with a lot of new moving pieces. I like where this train is heading.

It's not peculiar, it's taking enough teams to the woodshed to develop players you plan on being able to use late in the season.

PSA: we could not compete with any of them right now, with the exception of maybe Iowa.
Even if you assume Miles has seen the light re playcalling (I don't) this team still has a lot of growing to do. We have no killer instinct and lack intensity and focus (nothing new here). Zero second half points against a shite team.
I have been impressed with the Defense at times, but, Jesus, there were a lot of fools running wide open yesterday. When the QBs started hitting them they score TDs in rapid succession.
We have a few bright spots at a few key positions that are cause for a little hope, but pump the brakes. Takes more than a few skill positions to consistently win in the SEC.
