Looking for a quick driving trip from Hammond. Like to be around 6 hours or so(one way). Sometime in October, small, quiet town, nice scenery...South Ark? North Alabama? Smokey's?

Mentone, Alabama or maybe Sewanee, TN

I would definitely call those two quaint, lol

One of the biggest tourist traps in Georgia. Unless you are camping in the chattahoochee nature preserve. Otherwise it's overpriced bars and shitty food

Hey, he asked and I obliged.

Actually, Mentone may be what I'm looking for. Any good options in south Arkansas?

Shithole biker town since the tornadoes. The basically just threw a bunch of biker bars into the town and it turned into a mini pigeon forge.

Maybe not what your looking for but the historic area of Hot Springs, AR is a cool area. Trails around the state park, a few decent places to eat/drink and the Arlington Hotel, while being old and a little run down, is still a great spot.

The whole area other than the town is great.
Of course it's way more than 6 hours from Hammond.

I've always wanted to check out Cheaha State park in Alabama. They have cabins for rent.
Not really a town but its up on a small set of hills(almost mountains) and looks cool. Good hiking in the area also.
Just on the other side of Talladega.

Eureka Springs in NW Arkansas might be what you're looking for.

There are no mountains in south Arkansas but Hot Springs isn't too far and it may have what you're looking for. Other areas in Arkansas to consider are Buffalo River (this is probably over 6 hours), Mt. Magazine State Park, Mt. Nebo State Park, and Petit Jean State Park.

I've been wondering about this too. Also, what is a good road trip out west from BR if you only have 5 days?

Not too much of a "mountain town". but you can get to Broken Bow, Oklahoma in 6 hours or so. I'd look into that.
