I went and picked up 35 lbs of smoked sausage at the Verron's Supermarket in Lutcher this afternoon. Came home and sliced it up for a red bean diner fundraiser I'm cooking for this weekend. Actually the dinner is on Monday but I'll cook it a couple of days before. It's been a while since I used their products but I like it better than the mass produced stuff sold in supermarkets(different owners).

Anybody here use/like their smoked meats?

The owner/suasage maker told me he was making 1600 lbs of sausage today and made 1200 lbs yesterday.

Verons.
Has a good reputation on this board and within a 50 mile radius.

Try their hot smoked chicken sausage. Goat.

As long as it's from them and not the trash in Winn Dixie or Walmart. Original verons is damn good. Try the fresh sausage one time too. Gives dons in reserve a good run for the money !

It's my go to smoked sausage as well. They have pretty good fresh sausage too.

What I've had from there has been pretty damn good. I find the sausage a bit on the salty side, but I have been on a low salt diet for a while now - I may just be sensitive to that now.

What you call trash is just as good in any dish. Better on the grill.

There is one in the Atascocita area (north Houston) that I just found a few weeks ago. We've gotten boudin, smoked sausage, stuffed pork chops, prime ribeyes, and fresh in-house ground beef from there. All excellent and only slightly more expensive than the meat at HEB. I can't wait to go back.
