Possibly going to take a job out there in a few weeks. I'm sure some on this board have spent some time in Billings - thoughts, pros/cons? I appreciate scenery, nature, hunting/fishing, etc, but am not the most avid outdoorsman -- from what I hear, these are the most popular forms of entertainment. I'm expecting the people to be dull and the town to be a bit bland, but it'd be nice to get away - and you can't get much more "away" than Montana.

I'd appreciate some input, guys

Clean town. Minor league (reds) baseball team. Ate at Jake's which was a good steakhouse. Beautiful big sky country

Not as cold as you may think. From November through February, the average high temperature is about 40 degrees. Cold, yes, but not as bad as the -20's type horror you see in the Dakotas

I passed through it a few weeks ago. The city is scenic and people were very friendly. You're not too far from Yellowstone either. I would recommend it

Plan on driving a Subaru, nothing else seems to be allowed, probably for good reason?

Was reading about Billings today and I wondered how I could move out there. What kind of industry do you work in?

Outside Magazine named it the best town to live in for 2016.

Blue collar feel, valley town, not a ski/resort area, white trash in ghetto area, by Montana standards a big city.

Billing is a neat town and a lot of nice people. If you aren't an avid outdoorsman then you should attempt a lifestyle change because you will miss so much not visiting around. Check out Bozeman and Missoula for college town places. Go to glacier and Yellowstone and Lewis and Clarke bat caverns.

My wife is from there. She hated it. Said there is very little to do there and the winters are disgustingly cold.

A friend manages an office for a roofing company and said he could hook me up with a job as a salesman. Not a long term career move by any means, just looking to do something different in my mid 20s instead of wasting away in north Mississippi

Lots of drunk Indians. They sell rifles for cheap, then go buy liquor.

I'm in the exact same boat. Even if it sucks, it's not like I can't just pack up and come right back home
