I haven't met a single Big 12 fan in favor of adding Houston

As a Big 12 fan myself I oppose adding Houston, and talking to other fans of Big 12 teams none of them support adding Houston either. No one wants any more Texas teams.

Seems like the only ones beating the drum over adding Houston are the national sports media and fans of teams outside the Big 12.

It's a big divide.

I just don't see how or where Houston gets 8 votes to be invited to the Big 12. They are far closer to 8 no votes than 8 yes votes. I don't see any of the Big 8 schools casting a vote for Houston to join except maybe Kansas State. The brass of Texas/Texas Tech are for Houston joining for political reasons, but their fanbases and coaching staffs aren't.

Sorry but even with Houston's win over Oklahoma I just don't see them getting invited when the dust settles. Expansion is about a lot more than a hot run over a 15 game stretch. They still have to get 8 votes and its hard to see where those votes come from.

It's not even a matter of being scared, its just a matter of what they add to the league and bring to the table.

Houston makes some, not a lot, of sense in the short term, but makes no sense at all in the long term.

I think if Texas/Oklahoma are interested in keeping the Big 12 viable after the GOR expires, Houston doesn't get added. If they plan on bolting, they'll work to add Houston.

How do you know?

It could be like 2005 or 2009 when Oklahoma lost their opener as a Top 5 team and ended up going 8-4.

No P5 school wants Houston in their conferences.

They could shut down the Houston area recruiting and hurt a ton of schools.

I could see the ACC or maybe the Pac 12 being interested. Which is fine.

I just don't think Houston brings anything to the table for the Big 12. They do bring something to the table for the ACC/Pac-12.

Expansion is pretty much all about eyeballs. Houston doesn't bring that to the big xii. And obviously they want to keep them out due to recruiting reasons.

Their fanbase also sucks with it being a commuter school

you're scared you'll get passed by yet another Texas team. It's painfully obvious.

Houston to the SEC would hurt the Big 12 even more. It would plant the SEC right in the heart of Texas recruiting. LSU and Aggy would never sign off for it though.

Not sure why you got down voted. There's truth to what you say. Many I have spoken to have the same sentiments.

they bring respect and interest to the table. There aren't any good options, but Houston is the best program to add from a competitive standpoint.
