How do you guys feel about the possibility of this happening? I think a subway system is a good idea.

There's already a long thread about it from a while back.
Complete waste of money.
Complete waste of money.

It won't
And shouldn't. It would be a boondoggle even with a good federal, state, and local government. With the kind of politicians we have in DC and Louisiana, you can multiply the disaster by 100.

Governor west point will fund it by abolishing LSU football

How does this same subject pop up here every two weeks?
We aren't set up to make this work.
Not enough population density in the drop off areas. What the hell are people going to do once the get to BR? Not a good system in place.
And we know BR people aren't going to ride to Nola and then share other public transportation with less desirables.

BTR is too spread out doesn't have the transportation infrastructure to support it.

It won't.
It's been talked about for years.
But Louisiana is not the place to make large, publicly funded infrastructure projects like this. The embedded corruption in state government would astound on a project like this.
Not to mention, the project itself is silly. It's Baton Rouge to New Orleans... not DC to Philly. It would never pay for itself.

There is already an Amtrak rail built that connects br to Nola , all it needs is a train on it. How do people not realize this ?
Oh Wait, majority of the population is retarded, nevermind

The study concluded it would take 10 years and cost nearly $450 million to get the tracks in shape to run trains at a top speed of 110-miles per hour (but a much lower average speed). It also found passenger fares would only cover about a third of operating costs, so taxpayers would have to spend an additional $16 million a year subsidizing operations.
