Have you watched Brandon Harris play QB the last 2 seasons??
Like I said, he was the top rated QB in the SEC before he injured himself. Yes he faced tough competition but a healthy Harris should do fine this season with the chemistry he has with his WRs and RBs

And maybe no one was really sure what was wrong with him because as we all know the sports hernia wasn't diagnosed until later.
Oh the coaching staff knew about it but nothing was said. Miles and the staff didn't want to flip flop QBs and kill Harris' confidence by putting him back on the bench when he wanted to play. I can confirm that by former players

he did AVERAGE 300 yards in the next two games against Ole Miss and Arkansas, so it wasn't like we were hiding him.
He average that in 2 games that we lost by double digits and one we were not even competitive in. He had 2 TD's in those two games and 3 picks. He threw over 50 passes against ole miss trying to catch up.

We may not have a WR as good as OBJ, but IMO the 2016 offense has better talent and playmakers overall than that team. LF is better than Hill, then you add Guice. Chi, Dural, Chark and Co. against the '13 WR corps is a push.

I think the Brandon Harris deal may be the most overblown "storyline" of this offseason
Well, you're just wrong there. Harris might turn out okay, but he wasn't good enough last year. There were three horrible throws in the Bama game that would have completely turned that game around. And a high school QB makes those throws 90% of the time.

I agree here but Harris has to step up and lead this team. So when the OL, LF, MD, or anyone else on offense or defense isn't performing well he needs to make a play or reset things right then and there himself to get their focus back or get their WANT back where it needs to be. These are kids and are learning what toughness and resiliency is. He can show them that we are still in it when things turn bc they always do in a game. So he needs to become that person to change it back into their favor. He does that and we going places!!! He needs to step up in that way more importantly than anything else imo. GT

I can tell you don't pay too much attention to the games and only use the Bama game as a determining factor. I guess the 7 games before that don't matter.

One game with over 20 passes in 7 games isn't a huge sample size either. Granted he did play well in those 7 games but only 1 (Florida) was against a good defensive team and he did play well that game.
Bottom line here is that BH6 doesn't have to be the best QB ever. He does need to be better against SEC competition though and if we think we are going to go to a playoff game this year by handing the ball to LF7 and Guice to beat Bama, Ole Miss, Ark, etc., we are fooling ourselves.

Ignore history! Things are going to change! The rule is that things don't change; Zach Mettenberger's 2013 season is the only exception
Our qb play in 2011 was pretty damn solid. 20tds-4 ints both over 60% completion both over 138 qb rating.

Only to people that dont understand football. We had good qb play in 2009,2011,and 2013.

All we need is a JJ 2009 type season and we will be a force on offense.
18-20 tds -6ints 62% completion and we will be elite on offense.

Would like to have more like 24-26 Td's. No reason he should have that many this year. He had three games with 0 and several games with 1. With the talent he has at WR and RB, he should average 2 a game, if he is as good as everyone says he will be. Haven't seen it yet but time will tell.

I'm not worried about Harris. I'm worried about the constraining offense. Open it up, let Harris make some plays and get the ball to people who can make plays.
WR talent is sick, get these guys open, stop being predictable and move the chains.

So, he did what he could to help the team win. It wasn't enough. And if we don't give up 69 points in those two games, maybe we're not having to play catch up the entire time and can run our offense.

My point wasn't to try to compare each skill player from 2012 and 2015 but simply to point out that Zach got more comfortable between year 1 and year 2 because we run a complicated, pro-style offense and had a full season running it under his belt going into 2013. Why doesn't anyone believe that Brandon can't do the same thing?

Valid point but I am not talking about the defense. I am only talking about BH. We did not score in the first quarter or fourth quarter of either of those games. He has to start games strong and end games strong. He failed to so in 3 losses last year.
Look, I am not saying he doesn't have the skills to play well and lead the team. He is a very talented and smart kid. If you don't see any reason that an LSU fan would be a little nervous about him going into the season, I don't know what else to say.

The reason it's such a big storyline is because it's the difference between winning a national championship and losing 3 SEC games again.
Put Brandon Harris on the 2011 team and we might win it all
We need just slight improvement from Harris and more improvement from D and special teams, both of which were not up to LSU standards.
