Anyone have a good strategy for convincing Delta to waive the fee for changing flight times?

unless you are a status holder, I wouldnt hold your breath on it. Not much experience on Delta, but it doesn't happen on American.

How big was the schedule change? If it's more than 90 minutes they should help you out. American cancelled the late night 7:45pm MSY-DFW flight last thanksgiving and rescheduled me on a 5:45pm, got them to switch it to the same times for BTR-DFW

If your flight times moved by just a few minutes, no luck. If your flight times changed by 30-45 minutes or more and/or cut into your connection time significantly, call and tell them which flights you'd like to be moved to without applying the fee. If you get the run around, politely tell them thank you and call back and try again with another agent.

Hang Up, Call Again is a real strategy and will work if you get the right agent and explain it correctly.

For instance, if your flight was moved up and you couldn't leave any earlier explain to them that you're leaving directly from work and that departure time 45 minutes earlier does not allow you adequate time to get to the airport. Or if your connection is shortened from 90 minutes to 39, remind them you're only 4 minutes above a legal connection in ATL and your bad knee means it takes you a few extra minutes to get between concourses.

You get the idea.

International flight expect to pay $100+

My SO just booked a flight to barcelona but accidently put the departing city, Barcelona and arriving city NOLA (MSY). Pretty much did everything backwards, no refunds for stupidity on her end.

I'm reading this as you want to change times not that delta changed the time. If so, sorry but you are SOL unless you have status. I am loyal to delta but they will scree you here as policy.

My daughter got the flu the day before we were supposed to fly Delta earlier this year. I called to change the tickets for a couple of months later and they waived the change fees. I was shocked.
