Bc this "leech" paid taxes prob his entire life supporting the mooch degenerates who make a life off of welfare.
Sorta like drawing unemployment if you've had a job your entire life and so happen to lose your job.
You've paid in to it, hell its more the tax payers entitlement than be free loading POS that don't do anything besides wabble out to the mailbox to collect that check it card.

Of course they want low wage or no wage earners. Where do you think Democratic voters come from?

My wife's aunt makes just under 40k was denied due to income.
It's mainly about who you get that does your paperwork. Some people don't check anything. Im guessing you got one of those people. It's a simple fact that DSNAP does account for income and what you have in the bank. There is even a formula they use that is available to tell you if you qualify. It also helps if you have a bunch of kids too.

I think you are right. It is more about the person taking the app. Some follow the rules to a T and others don't give 2 shits. We only have 1 child.

You are too fricking retarded to even insult. By your reasoning everyone who pays taxes is entitled to get government money. I wonder what effect that will have on our current tax rate????

Some of you folks have in la entirely too long. Handouts every few years. Make money, save money, insure. If you do that you will not be begging the govt for food stamps 3 weeks into a weather event.
Posted on 8/30/16 at 4:47 pm to birdieman
you $100k earners filing for food stamps are worse than the welfare queens. You should know better than to get caught like this and should have enough pride to not resort to begging the govt this early in the game.
Families making half that I can understand. 100k, no way.

Man I was told on this same exact board how extra trashy it is for someone to go through a rough patch and have a La purchase card help you through the patch.

My family qualified for $640 for DSNAP. My dad is retired and disabled, mom only works part time minimum wage job, and they have 2 mentally challenged adult children who are dependent on my parents. Considering all the issues they have had with FEMA, etc lately......we are gonna take this as a mark in the "blessing" column right now. Promise you they aren't headed to the store to stock up on steaks and sugary crap with that money either.
They didn't qualify for food stamps before this btw, even though all of their combined income was less than 40k/year. My mom and siblings work the low wage jobs they can to help them to live off of that and my dad's social security. Before the flood they scraped by.....but were making ends meet.

Too much money in the bank.
You didn't have to keep it in a bank. Just saying.....

Damn I'm happy they were able to get something. I remember after Katrina FEMA was handing out $2k to anyone that had an address in the affected areas. Didn't matter if you had insurance or not or what your income was.

Yeah and my dad said they didn't have to wait in line long either. They must have learned from previous setups on DS(where people waited in line for hours). They had areas for elderly and disabled people to sit down in the shade, etc as well.
My parents were prepared though....I had told them to bring water, snacks, a paper or magazine to read, and camp chairs to sit it.

I hope the very very brad doe your family Nurse. I seriously say a small prayer before I read your post when I see they are a bit longer and in these threads, just figuring. You are giving an update and I always hope it's great news...
There will be some bumps and mistakes alone the way but I have a feeling that it will all work itself out. The info will get corrected. And your family will be made closer to whole again and in AZ

I really hope that FEMA isn't handling this situation like that.
This is one situation where those with more are more adversely affected.
Someone still on the hook for a $250K mortgage without flood insurance is in much more dire straights than someone that got washed out of their $25/month Sec 8 duplex.

Thanks SS, I appreciate the positive thoughts and kind words
I think once I can just get them to AZ, things will be much, much better for them and they can actually move forward to making a fresh start.

Food for thought. I know a couple who are a dual earner income family. Husband works for a Power Company locally and logs tons of OT. Wife works for a well-respected local biz as a CPA supervising a group of other CPA's.
They do well. Very well. They qualified for $771 and they told the truth to their application taker. So the OP is relaying a piece of anecdotal-if not absolutely frustrating for him personally-evidence. The overwhelming, vast majority of folks are going to qualify fo DSNAP. If he were really upset and felt as if he wasn't getting something he was entitled to, he walked out of the DSNAP location with paperwork that detailed the reasons for denial as well as the appeal process, and the appeal process almost always works.
Having said that, I did some quick math.
$771 is .006425% of $120,000.00
