I'd love to hear some detailed experiences from those who attend this. I've never heard a out this before. As much as I love snakes, even I would sacrifice a few to train dogs if that's what it took and if it worked (I'm aware that they said the snake are 't harmed). Ain't no truer friend than a good dog.

Can you go just to observe? Would be interested in watching how this is done.
I am pretty sure this won't be a problem. We are going to set up the snakes in one area of the farm and have every meet in the other area near the barn. There are going to be a few vendors that have supported or want to support our chapters. We are going to have food, some activities for the kids, a place for dogs to work on birds, etc.

Thanks, sounds like an interesting way to spend a day and not far from home.

I plan on attending to donate money to the chapter, meet some OB'ers, and eat good groceries .

Did this with my dog a few weeks ago. Winter kennels. Worth it. Dog hates snakes now.
We did cottonmouths and rattle snakes.

They don't defang or sew mouth shut there. They surgically remove the venom glands. The snakes can still bite you but it's just a puncture wound.

It has been about 10 years since I have seen it done, last time they stitched and defanged. There might be different techniques and there might have been revisions/ improvements in the avoidance over the years. The guy we have coming in is highly regarded in Texas.

I'm sure it works just as well either way. That's just the way my guy did it. Did you ever get quail from that contact I emailed you?

No, I got the day old chicks and everything was good for 2 months while they were growing and then a random cat got in the cage and killed all but 2 birds. It has been so hot that I have laid off the birds for a little while till it cools off.

We are going to have quail and have the ability for dogs to work in the fields.

I need to talk to the wife, but I'm interested in bringing my dog. Hes not a bird dog, but i think it would be good training. (he's a 9 month Australian Shepard)

It is good for any dog that spends time outside. regardless of the breed. You can come for the snake clinic and leave or you can hand out, we will be cooking jambalaya, have activities for the kids etc.

Will there be any bird training if you get some hands on some birds?
