Because he had a 5th year player in Flynn and a first year OC genius who was let loose with the playcalling. Then he had a guy called Mettenberger with a cannon of an arm and 2 great WR in OBJ and Jarvis Landry

How do other teams' coaches know the number of plays and the types of plays we run at practice?
Posted on 8/17/16 at 5:52 am to Rickdaddy4188
Nice facts, but you have to include defense in the game but the score is where you win or lose. Bama's point differential from offense to defense is where they shine. Who needs a lot of points when you shut out opponents? Just wear down the defense and move the chains is all you need, then rely on your defense.
Alabama allowed only 15 ppg, 276 ypg, 4.3 ypp
LSU 24.3 ppg, 347 ypg, 5.2 ypp
Wisconsin (Aranda) 13.7 ppg, 268 ypg, 4.4 ypp
The above stats with Steele ad Def Coord. and no imagination on offense against the good competition, or the inability to practice the throw and catch during the season against cupcakes, and the shitty game plan against Bama was LSU's undoing after a 7-0 start, and why Fournette lost the Heisman.
I am really not into personal goals however that trophy should have been his. If we had a better game plan against Bama we still lose to them, but not as demoralizing and we play better against Ole Miss and Arkansas, and lose only 1 or 2 games and play a BCS Bowl game!
This year I think we do open it up more because his firing, then un-firing was as real as it gets and there is a lot of leverage on Miles, and he has to win or perform in more dynamic/unpredictable play calling like some up above people demand him to (And all of us fans- We want an offense that is exciting and unpredictable and keeps the def off balance). If he does that Fournette will have much more yards then if he carried 28 times per game pounding the middle as he will get them in larger chunks. We do that with the talent we have, and we have a smooth transition from 4-3 to 3-4 with some help from 4-5 key talented freshmen plus TV fills solidly at nose, then we should win the SEC Ch. game and be in the 4 team playoff.
Stats that I dream of for this season that would win it all:
Offense:
39 ppg
490 ypg
Rush Yards- 250/game
Pass Yards- 240/game- would be ranked about 50th out of 127 teams (Last year we were #105, and worse in 2013-14)
6,800 total yards
6.7 per play (what we had last year)
70 plays per game
1,014 total plays
approx 9 possessions per game, score Avg. 4-5 TD x 7 points = 35 pts and 2-3 FG x 6 = approx 39-40 ppg
Rushing:
LF- 268 / 1,750 yards (6.5 pc) in regular season, then 22 / 120 yards in SECCG, 1st playoff 25 / 150 yards and title game he gets 23 / 180 yards
LF Final rushing stats 338 / 2,200 = 6.5 pc
Guice- 750 yards
Williams- 350 yards
others- 300 yards
LF, Guice and Williams will have a few catches for some good yards out of the backfield, as well the TE's. Finally!! I would from both positions about 6-7 players will get another 1,500 yards added to receiving yards for the whole season 12 games plus 3 (15) to the title game.
Dural- 55 / 850 yards
Dupre- 50 / 950 yards
Chark- 25 / 470 yards
Davis- 20 / 400 yards
With the receivers we have (The best collection in all NCAA) why should we be happy with a measly 180 ypg (I don't care if we have LF!!) We get balance and proper play calling then we can get at least 270 yards passing per game and still 220-240 rushing... We win it all with those stats!
Defense:
15.5 ppg
280 ypg
4.3 ypp
40 sacks
12 turnover margin
10 turnovers lost (what we had last year ranked #2 in the nation)
Wow, if we do that shite above, we win the Natty

Gosh, so many experts and bullshite opinions in this thread about anonymous opinions. Makes me laugh.
It is funny but sometimes the fans can see it more than the coaches. For instance when dumbass chavis had beckwith on the bench while welter was getting crushed every play. Fans were screaming just put the guy in and let him learn cant be any worse. I believe after like 1 game he was better than welter ever was. Not saying fans know everything but they are not always wrong.

I don't see that this guy is "shitting" on LSU. He is just making some observations that while many will find cringe-worthy, most LSU fans agree with what was said.

You can sum up this thread using posts on the last few pages.
One response, "Do you think Les has ever even heard of shotgun?"
Several posts later someone posted the play-by-play from the first half of the Alabama game. LSU was in shotgun nearly half of the offensive snaps.

Perfect example of the idiocy of a lot of LSU fans.
Fans have no clue.
Good God man just go away you are a fool.

That there is an incredibly loud and stupid segment of the LSU fanbase. I hate to say this but on a dumb scale LSU fans are right up there with Auburn fans and just a shade better than Alabama fans.
A lot of them are provincial, delusional, and totally out of touch with the real world.

Ah yes, Gray Tiger hard at work doing the only thing he's capable of--calling people stupid with no substance or original thought. At least RickyDaddy uses stats and facts to argue a point. All you do is drive by name call, then disappear.

No doubt, I've been watching LSU for years and while it is frustrating to watch the offense struggle so much there are a lot of factors fans don't know about and never will. Has Miles brought a lot of it on himself damn right he has. Should he get the blame? Yep buck stops at the top. Is he trying to fix it? I sure hope so. It will be interesting to see what the offense looks like coming out of the gate. I think and hope we see more of what we saw against TT only with Brandon being even better with accuracy.

Considering just last year LSU was a rainout against a rent a win away from topping that 9 wins you have the right to disagree.

this!!
I grew up in BR and graduated from LSU. I love the Tigers - and have for 50 years.
But I've never been a homer. Like the poster said, if you love something, tell the truth and don't just spew rainbows and unicorns. I'm probably much harder on the Tigers than other teams I generally like, but don't have the deep emotional connection to.
I've just never understood the blind homer mentality.

2nd and 10 same formation PA Rollout. Only 1 man can be open. not really open incomplete
3rd and 18 - 3 wide 2 RB Shot gun- deep ball to dural. good throw good catch
3rd and 3 - shotgun 2 WR 1 RB - beautiful arrow route with buga up the middle. Ball barely ahead of him. Incomplete
2nd and 9 - 3WR shotgun - dumped off underneath (looked to be primary route) Dropped
3rd and 9 same formation - terrible protection throws away to save sack
2nd and 12 - shotgun 3WR - TD pass to Dural perfect in stride
1st and 10 - i form- PA Deep. Ball underthrown but obvious PI
1st and 10 - Shotgun 3 WR - Went for TD. ball thrown OB. could have been picked
1st and 10 - I form 2 WR - PA 2nd read to Dupree for 16ish
3rd and 9 - shotgun 3WR - decent pass in traffic receiver seemed to not be looking. A little high. Tough angle to see what happened
Every pass from that 3/9 to start Bama game. He sure proved he was inaccurate....
