Diaz landed more, but he also threw a lot, lot more. They were pretty much equal in efficiency and Conor was more efficient on the significant strikes. The 3 knockdowns decided the fight. If Nate doesn't go down in the 2nd, he wins 48-47.

It was a close fight. There is always controversy when that happens

wheres the press conference?
Posted on 8/21/16 at 1:12 am to slapahoe
would be a colossal mistake if they did away w/ the post fight pressers.
Those are what got McGregor noticed by the fans in the first place.

Dom cruz talking shite
Yeah, he started kinda polite, but when his fellow analysts started pressing him, the claw came out, saying Team Alpha Male has collected a lot of checks to lose to him... Damn!
As far as Diaz v Conor, I lean towards Conor having won.
Round 1: Clearly Conor. Probably 10-9... possibly 10-8. Diaz was barely able to touch him + got damaged + got knocked down.
Round 2: I think Conor won, 10-9. He was clearly out-pointing Diaz for the first 3 minutes or so and, if I remember correctly, at least one of his knockdowns was in the second round, which gave him some cushion. Diaz won the last 90 seconds or so of the round and appeared to seize momentum. But I think some are giving too much credit to Diaz for the apparent emotional swing when it looked like the fight was about to slip away from Conor and he started looking gassed... Aside from maintaining cage control, though, I don't think Diaz did too much damage to Conor in this stretch and Conor was still scoring almost as many strikes as Diaz at the same time. I don't think Diaz did enough to overcome losing the first half of the round significantly.
3rd round: Clearly Diaz. At least 10-9, maybe 10-8.
4th round: I lean towards Conor, but not by a lot. If Conor won it, it was a close 10-9 round. He landed more strikes than Diaz and appeared to control most of the round.
5th round: Toss up. I thought Conor was again outpointing Diaz might have eked out another 10-9 round on strikes. I don't know how much credit take down defense is, but Conor stuffed a few take-down attempts and that is similar to maintaining control. When Diaz finally put him down, though, that may have been enough for Diaz to take the round.
In summary, I agree with those who say 1, 2 & 4 went to Conor.
Only other comment: Conor was sort of running the last couple rounds. But I think it's a gray area... he wasn't flat out running away to avoid fighting. What he was really doing each time, IMO, was getting off the cage to re-center himself in the middle of the cage, then he postured up and was more than happy to start trading with Nate again. If he had done this by side-stepping a couple of times, there'd be no criticism at all in my opinion. But instead of that, he turned his back and did a 3-5 step trot before turning back to Nate. Again, imo, I think he did it this way because 1) it consumed less energy to turn and take 3-4 steps instead of shuffling, and 2) he perhaps knew he could momentarily turn his back on Nate because Nate's right leg was too weakened to really spring on him if he did (he was always turning, jogging/walking, then re-setting towards the side of Nate's damaged leg.)
This is all speculation of course. In any case, it was a good fight.

Didn't see fight. But most of the twitter feeds I follow had Conor winning 48-47

Do people really think Diaz won the 2nd?
He definitely won 1, 2, and 4 and out struck him and did more damage. Nate was only able to deal damage when he pressed him against the fence. He pressed the whole fight with a fricked up face which will give him points from a fans perspective but just having heart dosent win you a fight
stats say you are wronggggggggg

He said Connor out struck him, which is false.
Rounds 2 and 4 are wash. Nothing even happened in round 4.
But after half way through the 2nd Nate was the dominate fighter.

Which is one of the biggest problems with the 10 point must system. You can literally lose 2 rounds by one jab, and outstrike your opponent by 20 in the other round and lose the fight.

I didn't watch it
But I figured out Ari Emmanuel is Rohm Emmanuel's brother. So I may not watch much more ufc ppv's now.

I don't have a problem with that. It's part of the strategy of the sport. You can win more games in tennis but still lose the match.
