Win it in the trenches

From my observations the offensive line stumbled last year starting with alabama then arkansas then ole miss, all losses
They HAVE to prove themselves and remain consistent for a championship and LF7 heisman year

Jimmy tweeted about some concern on the OL because they've been getting manhandled in camp so far. Maybe that speaks more to the strength of our DL, but man...

It's early in camp.

Oline continuity is one of the biggest early season issues.
The injuries don't help but with Pocic back in the middle I wouldn't worry as much.

Defense always has an advantage early on in camp especially, read and react, offense has to execute and the oline needs to gel as one, nothing to worry about, they will be ready

With all this depth at DL I'm assuming it's too late to convert one of our DL to OL?

definitely But it's not necessary anyway. Our Oline is loaded! We return three starters plus Weathersby, who had played himself into a starter level backup last year.

And we have several serviceable backups, one of whom is going to win the fifth starting job: Boutte, Malone and Dodd.

Also, we have a stable of great prospects as freshmen and sophomores and a good oline class coming in next year.

Nothing to worry about here. This will be a good unit this year just as it was last year. Our problem last year was at QB and dline. The oline looked like crap against Arky and Bama because they knew we couldn't throw it, and they were good enough to control a one dimensional running team.

the OL was a concern with me last year and, sadly, I was proved correct. it is a concern with me this year also. I keep hearing that Grimes is one of the best in the business but my eyes tell me different. I hope the hell i'm wrong.

Talk to Jeff Grimes. He's the one that has them playing that Zone Blocking BS.

I'm not worried about strength. I'm more worried about getting 5 guys on the same page at the same time 100% of the time. Too many blown assignments.

That's where all the breakdowns we've seen take place. Grimes has them thinking too much and its responsible for all the OL breakdowns in crucial games. Occam's Razor...............

That and Tehuma and Clapp haven't been playing- two key starters. Give them some time. The talent is there.

What team are you talking about? LSU's offensive line was not a good unit last year. Pass blocking might as well have been quantum physics theory as far as they were concerned.

How would Jimmy know this?
Had one day in pads and media not allowed to attend.
Is there a hole in the fence?
Amazing....

Is the OL problems with them and/or coaching (end of last yr) or is it the overall offensive scheme with the D basically knowing what we are going to do? Probably a little of both but keeping the D off balance would do wonders for OL.
There were breakdowns is pass protection but run blocking seemed fine.

You also have to take into account the loss of JD Moore and Dillon Gordon for those three games last year as well. Having JD back along with an experienced Mouton will be huge for us.

You mean that scheme that produced some of the best rushing attacks at the college and NFL level? I'm not vouching for Grimes, but that bullshite zone blocking scheme made Denver a running back factory for years. Seems to work pretty well for Wisconsin, too.
