Getting smell out of old newspaper - Hunter S Thompson Rolling Stone mags

I bought these garage selling today. They are in fairly nice condition, but they stink to high hell.
Anyone have a good remedy for this?
Ralph Steadman covers, Hunter S Thompson articles, Rolling Stone magazines, including "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

Put them in a shoebox or cardboard box with an opened box of baking soda and close the lid

I want to read them but they stink so bad, you cannot take them out of the plastic bags they are in.
I paid $1 each for them, right there at the North Gates, on Carlotta St.

Take them out of those plastic bags and let them air out. The smell will go away with time.

The smell will never go away. I'll give you $10 for them.
Nice score...

Bottom left goes between $7-20 depending on condition without stank.
Apparently $1 with stank

This is what I just did. I took them out of the plastic bags, put in sealed box with open box of baking soda. Plus, I did one shot of Frebreeze in the box before sealing it. I didn't want to put too much, so I just shot one time on the side of the box.

The bottom right one is the more valuable one because it contains "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

Are they molding? I've never had that happen with old newspaper or magazines. Wonder if they previously got wet

They are not moldy, just yellowed and smells of old newspaper. I don't see any water stains and the pages are not brittle.
I just did a little research. The "Fear/Loathing" copy is the second half of the article. The first half is in the paper from the week before.

When I list them, I will just start them at $20. I do this for fun (the hunt), not the money.

I think putting them out in direct sunlight might help. Outside would be best, but inside on a window sill would still help.
Obviously, there is a risk of them bleaching this way over time... but it would probably take a month or longer to damage them visually. I'd imagine you could expose them to strong sunlight for a week or two with no risk of degrading the quality. Just keep a close eye on them day to day if you do this. But sunlight is a great natural cleaner.

So you want to get the old newspaper smell out of old newspapers. Right.

Two weeks of sunshine will absolutely obliterate newspaper.
