My cholesterol was 300+, even at 10-12% body fat. Doc put me on lipitor, and it dropped to 220ish. I tried Keto for 2 months and it's now down to 140-150. I should be off the meds soon.
Everybody is different, but if I would have known then what I know now, I never would have taken the lipitor.

I'm beating it, or so I keep telling myself. Been going to Ochsner Transplant center the last 4.5 years and they still can't believe I'm kicking. But yes, a transplant could happen. Done turn down a LVAD and I glad I did along with my team. I really been doing much better the last 6-8 months.

I've heard the type of fish oil you take makes a difference? Anyone know if there is truth to this? I was at 220 total, then I lost 20 lbs, got it checked again and it was up to 240 total so just started on meds.

Good luck if you're out there in the gulf, hopefully this storm dies down soon with little damage.

Too high. Talk to your doc about a plan to lower it. This is an increased risk of stroke and coronary artery disease (especially if you have a family history of those). You might need to get on a low dose statin drug, combined with exercise and low carb diet.
How's your blood pressure?
Posted on 8/3/16 at 10:01 pm to Rossberg02
I had a bowl of Cheerios this morning. I think I'm good.

My numbers 1.5 months ago
trigs 1100
Chol 260
Sugar 540
got my bloodwork back today and with diet and supplements Red Yeast Rice, Milkthistle and Krill Oil my numbers today were so good my doc put smiley faces by them
trigs 198
chol 207, HDL went up to from 30 to 40, still got to work on the LDL
sugar 140, just gave up anything fried (seriously dying for a french fry), white bread, pasta, sweets and cokes
for breakfast I found this Dave's Killer Bread, about 10 different nutrient profiles, its nutrient dense but has very little fat, good carbs and a ton of fiber with lite butter and chia seeds with blueberries and a half avocado or a couple of eggs and some bacon or sausage for protein
I eat fresh kale, edamame, red and white onion, sweet potatoes, green beans, spinach, collard greens, mustard greens, squash, zuccinni, lean chicken, salmon, and chipotle soy/black bean burgers as my main meals, using very light oils to cook them with
salad for lunch
with kiwi, raw carrots, blueberries, yogurt and almonds, walnuts, unsalted peanuts for snacks
usually drink about 100 oz of water a day with either lime or lemon
and a high protein snack a few hours before bed.
seems to be working and it wasnt really that hard to change. plus that is without working out...I wanted to see if my diet alone would help so now since Im pretty physical at work I ll also add some cardio and see what they are in 3 months when I go back.

Awesome news! Congrats! I may try to work in some of what you do to get my number down.

Thanks I was dreading the news that I had no change so now Im really pumped about my progress and the way the numbers came back, at least I not killing myself any longer by eating like an idiot.
One more thing I will add...salt, I tried to really keep that low and out of my diet by avoiding processed foods and snacks...I try to keep it below 1500 mg a day.
back in January I weighed the fattest I ever been, 6' 284 lbs, Ive lost 44 lbs in 8 months by just changing the diet and Ive lost almost 6 inches in my waist line
shooting for 6' 210, so have a ways to go
