I don't get why they would close the upper deck off? what do they have to gain from giving people crappier seats?

Is it just New Orleans being New Orleans?

Well the tour priced the tickets like a crack head and I"m sure closing the upper deck saved the dome a shite ton of money with not having to staff concessions and security.

Common sense and $$$$ wins every time.

It's all about optics. Usually stuff like that is done so there aren't a shitload of empty seats in the most visible areas in front of the band. It's much easier to make it look like it's sold out for pictures when you pack everyone down below instead of letting them spread out.

It's not that different than when a sports team (usually NBA or NHL) lets people move down into the lower decks of a game that has a ton of empties in the lower bowl. (though its almost always b/c of some random weather event that causes the lack of people in those cases)
