I remember when you had to go to the brewery for Opus, it was so much better back then.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 7:21 am to urinetrouble
Other than more simcoe, changed malt bill and lower ABV it's the same beer.

I told you guys it was the same shite. Straight from Andrew's mouth it's the same shite. Different malt bill means less of the ingredients to make lower ABV, not completely different ingredients.
I want a formal FDB Apology for being called all kinds of nasty names for that OV = Ghost post I made a couple of weeks ago.
I'll just sit here and wait.

When comparing it to Ghost, that would make it similar. But different enough IMO to not think one is a scaled down version of another beer. The extra Simcoe is what I liked, and others here commented on as a positive trait of Opus Vert.
ETA: Ah. I see Stinky Toe is back. Tell us more about your brewing knowledge and how much you know about building craft beer recipes. Parish makes you so mad
Maybe you should have a few more beers to make you less mad.

Not from me.
1. I don't think OV is nearly the same quality
2. I'm not buying what an owner, any owner, is saying.

and just a week ago most said it was preposterous to even think that Sir Andrew would just recycle a beer with a little less ABV....

So if I've read this right the beer isnt for sale in stores, but will be in bottles at bars?
Posted on 7/22/16 at 10:11 am to J Murdah
Still had floor stacks at the brewery yesterday at 6pm.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 10:23 am to thegreatboudini
Im sure they do, but I dont live close there. Just wondering if I should call up my usual places and see if they will hold a 4pk for me.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 10:28 am to J Murdah
They have it at the Leblanc's on Drusilla. Ask at the front counter at customer service. 1 4 pack per person

Part of me wants to believe that at the price per 12 oz, most of the people figure Ghost and regularly available fresh Envie are just better buys
Agree. Haven't had OV2, but loved OV1. I just can't see myself paying $12 for a 4-pack on the reg when an Envie sixer is $8-9 and I can just grab that at Rouse's easily.
Did see a February batch of Envie shelf-turding at World Market in NOLA. Would not pay for that.
Posted on 7/22/16 at 10:35 am to LSUrme
damn February??
I saw 2 March sixers of Envie at whole foods on the northshore and thought that was bad.
Haven't had OV2 yet either, but man, I think fresh Envie (less than a month old) is absolutely outstanding these days.

Is he driving around town hand delivering the beer?

Have you brewed beer before?

Hold your breath. I had both. I have a bunch of Opus in my fridge and it is fantastic. Yes, i preferred batch 1 better, but 2 is fantastic on its own. I find it much brighter and juicier than ghost, and heavy on the lemon/citrus notes, much more so than ghost. I find them noticeably different. This coming from a guy who's had at least 1 bottle from every single batch of ghost released plus both Opus batches. They are both fantastic beers, and Opus tastes notably different.
Maybe you should calm down and stop being so childish in your bitching about great beer brewed in Louisiana. If you are so upset about it, don't buy any. It's that simple.

Have you?
Answer me this, if you have a recipe that calls for 10 lbs of 2row, and one that calls for 15lbs of 2row, same volume batch size, which one will have more alcohol?
Say beer x, has 15lbs 2row, 1lb carapils, 1lb flaked wheat.
Beer Y, has 10lbs 2row, 1lb carapils, 1lb flaked wheat.
Do these two beers have same malt bill, or a different one?
A different one of course. The amounts are different, not the ingredients.
I'm saying OV has all the same ingredients as Ghost, just in different quantities. And it's a very similar beer.

I didn't realize that you had to be a homebrewer to engage in a beer discussion around here. Excuse me while I sign up for some Seibels courses.

yes, 40 batches so far.

Answer me this,
Wait, you know the malt bill of both beers? Please tell me the malt bill of each beer, the hopping schedule, yeast used, water additions.

Yet they taste different. Why does this upset you so much?

You don't. But you should have an idea about brewing before you start spouting off that "you know" that these are the same beers but with lower alcohol.
