He's a teammate of Tory Carter. He's pretty much unranked, LSU is his 1st offer. He will be at the LSU camp later this month.

247 story

quote:

New LSU Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda is always looking for man sized linebackers to play inside in his always nationally ranked 3-4 defense.

LSU's staff uncovered a hidden gem and pulled the trigger this evening offering linebacker Akileis Leroy (Leesburg, Ga./Lee County).

Wow, sounds as if Aranda was just sorting through some film and really liked what he saw. Strange that he would be so under the radar.

It's refreshing to have a D-Coordinator doing his homework the way Aranda seems to be doing.

I'd imagine it's more of a camp offer though than a commitable offer at this time.

I like what I see. I don't know anything about the competition he faces. He's definitely strong. Seems like a stout run stuffer.

Getting heavy hitters at lb will set the tone on def...and if we keep going in the same direction dline wise they can run to the ball free with tht killer instinct.

There's no way he's 6' but he does look like he can hit. What's the level of competition like?

I'll wager Austin Thomas has something to do with this.

quote:

His duties included player evaluation, managing recruiting events, maintaining the LSU recruiting database and overall management of the current roster.

quote:

Said Orgeron: "Austin is a great evaluator. He spends countless hours devouring film and is highly organized when gathering information on a player. From talent identification and evaluation, to connecting with the players and managing all of their visits, Austin runs all of it. He's the main reason for our recruiting success."

This kid played with many different jersey numbers.

He looks solid and with a 3.9 GPA I think he is what Aranda is looking for.

Lsu needs these kinds of players at their key leader positions. He plays smart and takes the best angle, very aware. Awareness is key to a great player and arguably the attribute most needed on the field especially defense. Can cause more TO's and negative plays. And yes he's not very tall but who cares a guy named T. Mathieu wasn't very tall either??

Like others have said, really about 5'10. Hopefully he hits a growth spurt and gets a couple inches of height. If he was 6'2-6'3, he would be a 4* or 5* recruit.

I'm usually not a fan of offering these players with low/no stars, but that guy looks like a beast--always made sure that whatever angle he hit the ball carrier, the dude went backward from the line of scrimmage instead of just knocking him down. Want.
