Got any Colt 1911 experts here?

Looking at a 1977 built Colt Series 70 MK IV with a G70 suffix serial number. No obvious signs of abuse but it is showing its age. Finish looks more neglected than abused. I know less than Zero about 1911s. Anything specific I should look at? What would be a fair price? What price would would change the deal from fair to stealing it?

I would guess around $750 but I'm really don't know with any certainty.

You can get a new one like it for 921 on Buds. I'd google function checks for series 70 and use those checks to test the safeties, etc. check barrel to bushing fit. Pistol will rattle but barrel bushing fit is key for accuracy.. I'm far from knowing much, but that's what I'd check. I'd go 650-700 I guess. Nice gun. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconusaflagsmiley.gif)

Slide seems difficult to slide back if the hammer is cocked. At least difficult compared to my P226/P228

Nice looking gun, DeoreDX. Wish I could immediately give you a $$ value, but I don't know enough to tell you. I do have a few other suggestions if you don't mind doing a little research:
1. The gold standard for gun values is "The Blue Book of Gun Values." There's a chance your local library will have it.
2. Check out prices for similar guns on Gun Broker, Guns America and other similar web sites.
3. The Gun Digest webesite has some resources available, including one where you pay a few books to get the value of the specific gun downloaded to you.
Good luck and let us know the outcome.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcool.gif)
