I know the players are running the NBA and these salaries are what the NFL wants to but the Pelicans like many other teams will never compete under this structure, Davis will be gone when his contract his up.

The NBA players have a ton of leverage, but their lockout/strike ability is very poor because of the lifestyles of their players. The good news is they have a new executive director. The problem may still be that they can't withstand a strike/lockout for any meaningful amount of time to put a pain point on the owners.

All that being said, the owners will likely never break the union to NFL type cost certainty unless they are willing to lose an entire season.

You want a franchise tag? Nba players association will never allow this. What you probably don't understand is how much of a dumpster fire the nflpa is.

When the NFL plays 5 on 5 and 2-3 guys can sway the balance of the league

I would love to see the Venn diagram of people who complain about competition in 2016 and also love 80s NBA.

Or fans who love Shaq yet think Durant is the ultimate bitch for bailing on his team.

After what KD just did there will be a lock out. The new CBA was created to prevent this from happening and spread out the talent and it failed horribly

Never. The NBA owners had all the leverage in the last round of negotations and they could not get a salary cap system like the NHL or NFL, and in the next labor stoppage the players will probably have the leverage.

Oh yeah, San Antonio and Cleveland are just marketing hot spots. Players go to teams that can and will do whatever it takes to win.

Good thing we have like 4 years to build a contender around, and if the pels are too incompetent to build a contender around AD23 then he should leave.

they're not. the NBA bent them over in the last CBA

impossible, b/c of revenue and # of players

both leagues split it right at 50/50. the NBA just has fewer players

maybe. maybe not. the NBA has done a ton to incentivize teams keeping players
