Lakers aren't giving up all three, especially Ingram.

if he wants to go to LA so bad, why not just wait for his impending free agency and sign him without giving up assets

There are two teams in LA. The Lakers would get to pay him more if they traded for him instead of waiting for free agency and having the Clippers there being able to offer the same amount.

He'll probably give them a list of teams to trade him to that he would be willing to resign with.

You aren't getting Westbrook without giving up Ingram and Russell at the minimum
and as stated by Lester, you don't give your team up when you can sign him next year...like the Knicks did with Carmelo
Trading Russell and/or Clarkson makes sense because of their shared positions with Westbrook.
Trading Ingram however doesn't.
Ingram is probably part of their pitch, considering the KD comparisons

he'll have to narrow it down to 1 team, if that is the case
