I agree with that, she is going to be the every person, Girl Scout, bad arse, I just don't care for it or her.

That's a good theory. Looks like they may be changing the settings this season, if that holds, lots of this, and S1, could just be in his head.
They cut him off / away from his sister too, but it's still early.

That scene where Eliot starts laughing at Slater was very well done.
As someone mentioned the title scene before, that's always my favorite part or one of them at least. I love the music climaxing when the big red letters come up.

Leon is just another inmate. His mom is a guard. The meeting with Gideon was very prison like, notice how he walked off from it.
So how was he able to talk to Krista? Did she come to the prison?

Leon the black guy that Elliott talks to at the diner? I think he's inside Elliott's head as well. Elliott says he doesn't talk just listens. Also says he has a new routine and some of these new characters could be in his head.

Him sitting around watching basketball would make sense, "the yard".

could be.

I watched first season. Was digging the way it was headed. Fight Club reveal. Exploring this guy's insanity...this just doesn't interest me. I'm sorry. I tried real hard with this episode, it's just not for me. The character is too fragmented, however accurate it may be in illustrating his dissociative condition. Whatever metaphor they're going for...prison...institution...maybe I'll dive back in when it's on Netflix.

Also, why the frick does Angela have qwerty?

I'm waiting to really commit to a theory but I think the psychiatric ward theory makes a little more sense as of now

When I saw this last night I immediately thought everything was a hallucination and I am quite alright with that.

Don't think so... The scene at the basketball court he grabs the ball...
Unless that was Elliot that grabbed the ball and threw it/got in the guy's face (but he pictured himself as Leon).

The jail/ward theory has some legs. I didn't think about it until reading this thread. Same "loop" pattern every day. Eating with the same random black guy every day, the basketball games every day, the church group.
Interesting theory. Overall I enjoyed both episodes, it did start slow but they kinda had to slow down after the big Five/Nine attack climax. Tyrell is most likely dead after seeing Elliot grab the gun out of the popcorn right after the hack at the beginning.
Also Gideon dying right after Mr Robot part of Elliot slit his throat in the vision makes me think Elliot had a part in killing Gideon.
The only think that I liked better in season 1 was the score. THe patented Mr. Robot music that's very similar to Trent Reznor scores was almost non-existent for the 2 episodes. They chose to use more actual songs (Genesis, Sonic Youth, etc). I really liked the score from S1. I think I know why they are doing this though.
The S1 score sounds came back when Elliot was starting to lose it again. I think they were going with straight music with Elliot trying to be "normal" and the Robot score is saved for when he embraces the Mr. Robot persona.
Anyway, great show, great season opener. Craig Robinson was huge WTF moment but he was awesome. Looking forward to this season.

I need to go back and watch the last couple of espisodes of season 1 because I was lost in the season premiere. Seemed like there was alot of stuff thrown at us in the first episode. I had a little bit of trouble following all the story lines.

It would be somewhat interesting if Elliot is in fact in jail and had a hand in Tyrell and Gideon's deaths. That would mean that we are seeing a warped perception of reality from the mind of a complete psychopath.

I'm so happy about the current state of cable. We are getting an R-Rated HBO quality show on cable and it is glorious. We got tons of f words and shits, etc. We also got to see the enitre side boob of Joanna Wellick.

Why are some of you saying Tyrel is dead? Did y'all not watch the final scene of part 2? Elliott received a phone call from a French speaking dude that was Tyrell.
Also, regarding Leon not being in Eliotts head because he grabbed the ball doesn't mean anything. Slater interacted with the black guy and fat white guy hacker and with Elliott's sister in season 1. Haha you can't take anything for what it is in this show. And that is why I love it.

Because in the opening scene when Tyrell and Elliot launch the hack in the arcade and Tyrell says "it feels like something was just awoken", Elliot goes to the popcorn machine where he stashed the gun and the scene cuts. This implies he shot Tyrell by itself.
The phone call means nothing right now. Everything that is happening is an illusion to at least some degree. The voice was static filled and scrambled at first. He also answered the phone on a blackout scene as soon as he nodded out at the church group, it cut to the phone. He acted as though he lost time.
Just because you hear Tyrell's voice doesn't mean he's alive, esp in a show based around a person having delusions and hallucinations to begin with.

So why not take your own advice? so a Tyrell phone call after a blackout filled with static means he's alive? lol

Because Elliot is fighting the Mr. Robot persona and trying to be "normal" Once he succumbs I predict we hear the trademark music.

Regardless, I miss that song a lot. I think it coincides with the hacking part of Elliot. Since no hacking, no song.
I hope I'm right and it returns when he finally breaks
